When I saw that thread last night, I was expecting the links to the "offenses" to be wild. But then it was just bathroom humor, and a singular call to execute landlords, which I found hilarious.
I just do not understand the lack of humor of a lot of people, on these instances. You'd swear their lives are devoid of happiness.
A lot of those are pretexts for defederating I think
What rubs them the wrong way is our position on various issues (despite them being far more deeply argued and sourced than the paltry answers we usually get)
Also, admittedly and to a lesser degree, likely the fact we're numerous and terminally online so anytime something dunkable is posted even the small subset of online hexbear users that see it appear on their feed and interact must look like an army to them
They defederated us for being perfect posters
We did everything right and they defederated us, folks
They hate Trump because he dismisses them and posts better than them, not because the valid reasons. They hate us for the same reason
Guilty. I will happily reply to every single comment in a thread without even really thinking about it. People think I'm stalking them and it's like "nah, I've just made twenty comments in every single post that was posted today, that's all".

Honestly I can understand why XYZ mod/admin (idk how Lemmy works I just go on 'chapo.chat') would not be happy with people spamming huge emojis and PPB (I don't like it tbh, it's gross! I like my pigs clean) and if that was the main reason for defederation if attempts at stopping it hadn't worked I'd frankly understand it.
But the other stuff (the implication that this is a Chinese propaganda subreddit(?)) is a bit more confusing to understand. I mean I'm not "pro-China" and I've never been abused or dunked on or whatever on here because, I'd like to think, I approach my position with thought and care. I mean I could put more effort into it (e.g., more effort w/ sourcing) but honestly I can't be arsed. But yeah, if it's just "defederating because anti-west geopolitical stance" then it's on them, really. If they want a narrow political window of discussion then it's just whatever...
For me discussion-when it's serious/decent effort and especially when it's sourced-can be a genuine source of gaining knowledge and challenging your own views even on social media like this. If some people are not (and I don't know how to say this without sounding like a twat) open to challenging their own preconceptions and hegemonic culture then let'em wallow in ignorance. There are others who are not so politically docile.

In my experience, it has genuinely not occurred to most liberals that those are different things, but then when presented with the distinction they pretend not to have heard it.
My experience is that liberals, upon hearing the difference, will start conflating the two. Like they'll say their house is both personal and private, since they intend to use it as an investment.
What a miserable way to see housing
The Maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry.
Guaranteed most of them have some interesting opinions on the indigenous people of Canada and how they ended up in their current situation.
