Just deleted the Apollo app. Sad times. Hope this turns out to be a viable replacement
I have never used a Reddit app (3rd party or otherwise), but I am seriously considering using one till the end of the month. One of spez's arguments in the disaster AMA was that 3rd party app users were a tiny minority, and uninstalling early only reinforces that argument. And also, if API calls are so expensive, better make them spend!
