Donald Trump has suggested large numbers of Palestinians should leave Gaza to “just clean out” the whole strip, after ordering the US military to restart shipments of 2,000lb bombs to Israel.

The US president said he wanted Gaza residents to move to neighbouring nations, and that they could be displaced “temporarily or could be long-term”, after a phone call with Jordan’s King Abdullah on Saturday.

“I said to him: I’d love you to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess. I’d like him to take people,” Trump said, when asked about the call.

He also suggested Egypt as a destination for Gaza residents, and said he would raise the issue with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Sunday.

No, no it doesn't. I am admitting that there's nothing I can do to improve an unfortunate situation, especially when I have my own problems.

I think the mistake you're making here is you assume there's something I can do.

I'm not a politician, I don't have the authority to declare Happy Birthday.

If I were a congresswoman or some shit, yeah I'd filibuster bills that give Israel more weapons and demand we focus on bringing peace to Palestine, I would refuse to vote for any bill that gives one red cent to the zionists, especially when that money would be better used guaranteeing healthcare for our citizens.

I am a private citizen, I am a TRANSGENDER private citizen living in the south, my immediate concern is to get rid of the Republicans because they literally want to kill me.

At no point have I ever expressed a lack of concern for Palestine, just an admittance that there's nothing I can do for them. I sincerely have no idea what it is you want from me.

There are always upvotes for people saying that everything is solvable with a perfect moral stance. There are always downvotes for anyone saying "political realities exist".

One of many problems with the world: An Inconvenient Truth will always lose to A Reassuring Lie

Yes I know but please stop virtue signalling about Palestine that is all being asked of you.

Man, imagine considering someone saying "I knew harris would not drastically descalate the genocide of palestine, but voted for her regardless because I knew trump would just serve to escalate the situation." to be virtue signalling.

You are seriously arguing that her inability to matter in the scene of global politics invalidates her from having an opinion, because its just "virtue signalling".

So far there has been no escalation but the opposite. A ceasefire. Trump always threatens people with big words in hopes to make them bow to his will. The problem is that there are no threats left to make against Gaza because Biden already destroyed it.

[–] Vytle@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

One of Trump's first moves in office was to send Israel 2000lbs of explosives, which was put on pause by the Biden administration. Forced relocation under threat of 2000lbs of explosives is still genocide. The Palestinian culture will not exist following this.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That forced relocation happened under Biden who used his powers to bypass congress to send Israel weapons. Palestinians are now moving back north. The opposite.

But it is a good thing Democrats are finally paying attention to what happens in Palestine. They did not under Biden.

[–] Vytle@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's cool, just gloss over how you said trump is deescalating the situation when all he's done is sent Israel the 2000lbs of explosives that the biden administration refused them.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Do you mean bypassed congress for?

[–] Vytle@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Biden bypassed congress for the sale of primers to Israel. Trump sends Israel 2000lbs of explosives and you call this progress.

This will be my last comment in this thread, so let me end it with this. You keep dodging what you said; you said "so far [under trump] there has been no escalation, but the opposite; a ceasefire". This statement is verifiably false, and you keep bringing up the Biden administrations congress-bypassed sale of primers to the Israeli government in an attempt to divert from the Trump administration sending Israel 2000lbs of explosives; an action which was SPECIFICALLY, INTENTIONALLY witheld by the biden administration. Please, PLEASE explain to me how the US sending Israel 2000 fucking pounds of explosives is a deescalation. Please explain to me what use Israel has for 2000lbs of explosives if a ceasefire is to be established.

I'm not sure if your an idiot or an apologist, but its clear to me that this this thread is no longer worth my time. Go fuck yourself.

Sincerely; Vytle.
