Why are you waiting the rice cooker to finish? it's usually automatically changed to warmer mode after the cooking is done.

And let it burn to the bottom? Nah, as soon as I hear that click I'm Usain Bolt on my way to unplug that thing

Umm..... maybe get a better one that doesn't burn the bottom?

After decade of using the same $30 rice cooker, last month I grabbed an Induction Rice Cooker that's on sale for $119 (down from $199). It was LIFE CHANGING! Can't believe how awesome it is. It can cook rice, soup, porridge, steam, reheat, even bake cake. And it do ALL of that PERFECTLY without ever burning a thing.

You're missing out on that good Tahdig.

My cheap rice cooker burns it if I wait for the click. I set a timer on my watch for 12.5 minutes and haul-ass back to the kitchen to unplug it.

Maybe my rice cooker isn't expensive enough. It's a mid range one that does a pretty good job, but if I leave it on warm for a long while after finishing the rice turns to shit. I buy more expensive/good rice and don't like it getting ruined.

That's what happens to all the rice I cook too, but it takes a few hours.

My rice cooker can hold stuff on warm for literally days...

A good Tiger/Cuckoo/Zojirushi should be able to do that no problem.

We have a zojirushi rice cooker and it never burns our rice.

Seems like a waste of energy.
