A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

I will say that as far as old-timey fantasy novels that are ultimately just collections of short stories go, it's not a terrible book. It's no Silmarillion, but I've read worse.
Weird for people to hype it so much such a long time later, when there's so much better stories around, even around worldbuilding and worldcreation and human interactions over such worldbuilding systems. Compare for example the Science of Discworld and its successor books.
