Summary

A drone sighting temporarily shut down runways at Stewart International Airport in New York on Friday, part of a string of drone activity since mid-November.

Gov. Kathy Hochul called for federal action, urging Congress to pass the Counter-UAS Authority Act to enhance drone oversight and empower local law enforcement.

Similar sightings in New Jersey prompted investigations by federal agencies, though many reports are suspected misidentified aircraft.

Officials stress the activity isn’t linked to foreign actors but remains irresponsible. Temporary flight restrictions were imposed near sensitive sites, including military bases.

My city park has no restrictions, in case you are wondering. I aint breaking any laws lol

Edit: and there aren't any wild animals nearby last I checked, perfect place to play with drones.

In my city (toronto) there is a bylaw that no remote controlled vehicles are allowed. So, not only Drones, but RC planes and RC Cars. Oddly, its an old bylaw as well, was not written becuase of drones.

What's the actual bylaw? I'm very skeptical of your claim.

One might argue that a quadcopter is not a model of any aircraft.

Thanks for the citation. That's pretty garbage tbh..at least it's define to parks so you can legally step outside the park grounds and presumably be safe. Lol
