Children convicted of them are subject to the same length of sentence as adults. If convicted of murder they must be given a life sentence with a 20-year minimum non-parole period.

Imagine deliberately setting up a legislative environment where a 10-year-old kid could be sent to jail for 20 years.

Surely they will be a well adjusted member of society when they reach the end of that sentence
