The Arctic is an important topic?
Referring to glacier melt or something else?
Because that's not an Arctic-specific phenomenon, that's global.
I doubt it's about glacier melt... Maybe he thinks there's oil to be had up there.
It's called the northwest passage. It's supposed to be a vital shipping route once the ice melts.
It's also an important region for defense. Look at a map of the north pole. Russia is right there. We've never had to worry about a naval incursion before. With melting ice we do.
And, yes, there is oil up there.
