Useless old school holes? I am glad they did.

[–] Matombo@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago (4 children)

but they didn't give you an array of 7 usb-c either (power, network, external screen, external harddrive, usb-drive 1, usb-drive 2, headset)

[–] TwinTusks@bitforged.space 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That is true, I do not miss the old ports, but I want it to be replaced by the same amount of new ports.

jesus christ, they literally were

Did you use all 7 ports at the same time? Computers had so many different ones because the accessories all had their own ports. It was a mess back then. Now everything is USB-C and Macbook Pros have 4 of them. Plenty of ports.

If you look at OP's picture, you'll notice:

magsafe power, ethernet, display, firewire, 2x usb, mic and headphone ports

but yeah totally a loss of fn

Never used more than 4 ports at the same time.. you did?

[–] A7thStone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Getting big Steve Jobs "you're holding it wrong" vibes.

[–] constantturtleaction@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well then, at least give me 2 more USB C on the other side.

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, pros need that, that why pros get them. Air user won’t use 4 ports.

If air user do, they should be pro user.

example: ethernet, power, 2 external screens, 2 usb drives, mouse > 7 things connected at once with a pretty standard setup

and yes i know docking stations are a thing but thats not the point

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have my Ethernet, mouse, second screen, keyboard all connected to monitor one. How do you love with a portable device that you have to plug in 7 things before you can start working..

[–] Matombo@feddit.org 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

lol u serious? that's not a workout

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

😂😌 I just love plugging in a single cable, and everything is connected including 65 watt power delivery charging 😇

I guess after plugging in 7+ ports, you have cables coming from both sides of the laptop, making it very hard using it as 3th screen, I assume, at least on my desk it would be a big mess having all connected directly to the laptop.
