Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Thank you to @carpoftruth@hexbear.net for covering my position as Supreme Dictator of the Goddamn News while I was moving and getting set up in my new home in a top secret Kremlin-funded bunker five hundred feet below the ground. Our regularly scheduled programming returns this week.

On October 9th, Daniel Chapo won the Mozambique general election with about 70% of the vote. Chapo is the head of FRELIMO, the Marxist-Leninist party of Mozambique's liberation, which fought an internal anti-communist resistance called RENAMO which was backed by Rhodesia and apartheid South Africa; Frelimo won in 1975. However, as the USSR fell, Frelimo began to allow elections inside Mozambique, and has ruled the country with significant majorities in each election ever since.

The main opposition party inside Mozambique is Podemos, which is led by Venancio Mondlane, a former member of Renamo and trained inside the USA. He alleges that his polling figures predicted a majority win for him, not Frelimo, and has accused Chapo of electoral fraud. There have been the usual slogans about how they yearn for freedom. The EU, of course, "witnessed irregularities." As @WilsonWilson@hexbear.net has pointed out, Mozambique has massive undeveloped gas fields and is outsourcing the development process to France, Norway, the UK, and the USA, while mysterious Islamist groups have popped up to cause chaos in the exact regions which have the gas, slowing the process of actually developing those gas fields. Overall, it appears to be a cookie-cutter colour revolution attempt by the imperial core designed to install a comprador for cheaper resources. Its proximity to BRICS+ member South Africa may also be significant, noting the colour revolution in Bangladesh earlier this year exerting influence near India and China.

Protestors have been battling against the police and government since late October, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries as well as massive disruption, as the government has intermittently blocked access to the internet and social media. As of today, calm appears to be returning, with border crossings beginning to reopen.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

wasn't he celebrating trump's victory just yesterday?

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

Fair winds fascism

What else did think people think was gonna happen?

Let’s be extremely generous and let Trump be this radical candidate who’s going to take on the national security state: Trump would not have been allowed to be the president if he had refused to cede his new administration’s foreign policy to the neocons. They might not be fully prepared for him the first time around, but I refuse to believe that after 8 years they still don’t have any mechanism to rein Trump in.

If you really want to be conspiratorial about it, one of the assassination attempts in the last few months very likely would have sent a loud and clear message to Trump what it would mean for his next presidency.

These people are idiots with no political understanding

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Or they're just crypto-fascists

[–] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe but I think a lot of these nitwits are going to legit be malding when they see that Trump is just a fresh coat of paint on the same old shit instead of a based God emperor

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

Some of the low rung rank and file dipshits that are actual hoodwinked true believers, sure, but I know for a fact that theres plenty cynical fash-aligned snakes among them that are guiding them deeper into their true ideologies - be that conservative right-opportunist social fascism, larouchite esoteric pseudo-philosophical fascism, Strasserite duginist nazbol fascism, or the corporatist fascism.

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I disagree entirely by your reasoning Bolton would still be there.

We all know Trump isn't just incompetent but extremely egotistical and he is already significantly older and probably not that far off from Biden's coginitive decline.

Essentialy while some standard neocon might get in right now there is realy no reason to indicate this will be sustained for 4 years let alone to believe Trump was already planning around "neocons" having power as a compromise.

I doubt Trump even understands neoconservatism and neoliberalism.

Remember Hinkle here is the near perfect duplicate of Tucker Carlson blasting Trump for escalating with Iran. Only obviously Hinkle is far less influential. But if MAGA substantialy opposes this(for the dumbest reasons) its very likely Trump will flip flop.

I think this is the whole thesis why Trump was even considered possibly a better alternative. There is a very specific narrative angle where MAGA stands completely opposite to neoconservatism and that is Russia as an ally of white supremacy. In general neocons pushing the old Bush era war is entirely against this idea the US even got "allies" outside the liberal sphere in the first place. MAGA fundamentaly can't reconcile having shit EU libs or turbo NATO heads as allies or even having the idea they're the ones in charge.

Democrats and Biden made sure to ally themselves with neocons as Biden made sure to praise NATO and Israel, reminding us how much he loves it every god damn press meeting during the election.

Night of the plastic knives

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

So just standard neocons again? Makes sense. Don't know why I expected anything differently.

[–] ThomasMuentzner@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

not standart Neocons .. Deluxe Neocons..

[–] Halloweenbean@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Paleocons actually, real America first shit from the 30s.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Nope, they are neocons. Paleocons would be a massive improvement as they are isolationist

His picks aren’t “America First” MAGA types they are centrist blob types

[–] Halloweenbean@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Paleocons were isolationist in Europe, they loved beating the shit out of the global south.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah and the people like Rubio that Trump picked are Neocons, not Paleocons. Honestly no idea why you even brought it up and are doubling down on a categorically incorrect statement

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Why are we still talking about paleocons as if they're a thing? Paleocons haven't been a thing in decades. They pretty much slid into political irrelevance by the time of Reagan. The closest thing to a paleocon in 2024 is Ron Paul, which goes to show how much of an anachronism paleocons are when Ron Paul himself is a just a standard libertarian with anti-abortion characteristics. Edit: It turns out Pat Buchanan is still alive, so I guess paleocons technically still exist.

[–] Halloweenbean@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

He picked Rubio but Rubio is going to be a rubber stamp. He also literally just picked someone from fox and friends.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

More like the Wilsonian Dems from the 1910’s. They’re more or less the reason the US foreign policy is what it is today.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago

The Hinkle has been wrinkled.

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago
