Well yes it is! But that's why it is important to look at it... All us moderators and community owner have responsibility towards the server. This is our server. I think it'll be more flourishing for the community if we enforce this perspective in the server/instance.

Is there a difference between 'instance' and 'server'? Serious question, for behold I am old and not too bright.

Running my Lemmy pages has become my hobby, so I know I'm getting more fun from this than the casual users dropping in. I have therefore pledged a small monthly payment to the instance. When I get 'round to it, I'll add links in the sidebar, for donations to support the instance, and I'd urge other mods to do the same.
