Wait newspapers are supposed to endorse presidential candidates? i thought they pride themselves to be "politically neutral" or some stupid liberal concept.

So the reason this is controversial is that the Washington post almost always does and when the editors room said, "we want to endorse Harris," Jeff Bezos went, "we don't endorse candidates starting now."
