As a Michigan native, I thought I found a good one in midwest.social. Then once I got signed up, I noticed in the sidebar that it was a politics-focused sub. (I always blocked all of the politics content in Reddit, and now on Lemmy. I'm just here for cool/fun stuff about tech, videogames, and woodworking. Not to argue with people that don't share the same beliefs as me.)
It is interesting how much the Fediverse leans on building communities, with the requirements that members have the same political & social ideologies as the admin.
Anyhow... I'm on lemmings.world now, after seeing the admin make a couple comments in this thread. So far, so good.
