Funny, I was going to say Americans probably know what a cabbage is because of slaw.

America has tons of cabbage dishes. The northeast variants are more Irish influence related to the traditional boil and the south has mixed greens which is a take on collard greens that mixes em with cabbage. There’s also the rare( here at least) , but delectable, fried cabbage. Seriously, cabbage fries well. Just try it and it’ll work.

Was it a couple of years ago there was a lettuce shortage for fast food joints so they just started using cabbage instead?

Slaw is big down under? Hell yeah, I’m non-sectarian when it comes to slaw, fuck the slaw splitters, but what type is big is in Australia?

No, it's just something people eat sometimes. I don't really keep track, sorry :(
