So I had no interest in this game until I saw that cute goblin in a hat, anyone wanna give me a review?

Apparently Rule 34 art of said goblin outnumber art of all the rest of the cast combined. Not a review per se, but... at least the playerbase seem to share your enthusiasm?

Now that's my kind of review!

Kind of fun, kind of chaos. Games start off pretty calm, then quickly turn into ability and dash spam. It feels quite clunky in places. The map is kind of confusing and unnecessarily complex. I personally think it would work better in a more traditional MOBA setup of 5v5, 3 lanes. But they are still refining it, so maybe it will turn out a lot better than it currently is.

Hatted gargoyle goblin is the character I like to play. In one sentence it's a 6-on-6 third person hero shooter MOBA.

I found that compared to League of Legends (at least what I knew of it 4 years ago) and other team shooting games, going after objectives is more important than winning more fights and good K/D ratios, at least at the casual player level.

Like other similar games it takes awareness of where allies and enemies are on the map, coordination between team members to play effectively and some knowledge of each character's ability. But even if you absolutely suck at shooting unpredictably moving targets (that's me), knowing when to push a lane, when to support your team, when to reap the successes of a teamfight and when to pull back will contribute toward a win even if you're 1/15/5. And a lot of punching of course.

Where Deadlock is nice right now is the short queue times and nice pick mechanism, helpful indicators for a lot of things once you know what they mean, and fun movement combos with dashing sliding and jumping.

MOBA but 3D. You can’t choose your role and have to choose 3 characters and get randomly assigned one. The game will sometimes assign you a support character and a solo lane.

There's no guarantee this is how it will be for long. One benefit to the current system is fast queue times, not necessarily satisfying player's desires (such as no solo lanes) or fair matchmaking (though some is involved). Faster queues means more games which means more analytics can be gathered by the devs to assist in making the game better. That's the nature of a beta/playtest.

The last game I played, it gave me Dynamo, then put me in a solo lane against Seven.

I don't mean last as in most recent, I mean last.
