I appreciate the randomness and the fact that the polishing cloth is only backwards compatible to the iPhone 5 and iPad 4th gen. No mention of any other devices prior to like 2012 which is kinda funny honestly. It is a polishing cloth. I could use it to dust the display of my Philco Predicta and it would do just fine πŸ˜‚ (not that I have one…just providing a ridiculous example).

I think this is just a result of the apple store's accessory recommendation system. Probably so few people use anything older than iPhone 5, it doesn't make sense to include anything before that.

Yeah, they put product compatibility for everything on the site. But we also enjoy shit posting about this over priced microfiber cloth every year.

Oh I know. It is just a ridiculous oversight. Compatibility could have easily been hidden for the page and it would have made more sense lol. This is just poor website implementation. Harmless but also makes them look dumb and pretentious 🀣

It's intentional design, search engine optimisation.

Invisible text can accomplish the same thing.

Are the models prior to the iphone 5 even viable? 3G network is long gone at this point, I don't think they had 4G capability until the 5. They'd be entirely wifi-bound

What are you saying? That the polishing cloth needs at least 4G?

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

At this point? 6G at minimum, with no backwards compatibility.
