He was involved in a single vehicle crash during the Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance near Glen Innes in New South Wales on Thursday.

The annual national event is held to honour police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

The Queensland group left from Brisbane on Wednesday, heading to Canberra for a memorial on Saturday.

New South Wales Police said the single-vehicle motorcycle crash occurred at about 3:20pm on Wednesday on the Gwydir Highway, approximately 20 kilometres east of Glen Innes.

They said the 58-year-old motorcyclist had been attempting to overtake another rider when he lost control and went down an embankment.

"Members of the public administered CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, however, the man died at the scene," the said.
