Did society collapse in 2016? I must’ve missed it.
The pandemic kind of wallpapered over it, but at the time we were looking down the tubes at a recession and a trade war, and Trump had by that point gotten rid of most of the competent cabinet that kept him in check.
If a 2008 crisis hit, it would have been bad.
People tend to forget how badly he fucked up the pandemic response. Imagine his cronies instead of Bush and Obama's people in '08. We'd be in a depression by now.
Operation warp speed was incredibly successful. Not sure where this narrative that the whole response was a disaster comes from. Too much MSNBC?
Demonizing and downplaying and sowing doubt on the credibility of public health did incredible damage. One of the reasons the US suffered as badly as it did is because the Trump admin treated it like a PR attack on Trump, instead of like a legitimate crisis, which it was.
Trump's failure is commonly assumed to have killed almost half-million people. And that's just Trump's response to COVID, turning vaccine hesitancy into a mainstream right-wing shibboleth is going to be a gift that keeps giving.
Warp speed also didn't really help that much. Of the recipients, only Moderna's was successful, and Pfizer wasn't part of the program. And that's before we get into insider trading allegations and how it didn't coordinate with anyone internationally.
Pfizer received a good chunk of change from warp speed. Besides that, it’s not like they were the only successful manufacturers. I’m not sure I’d view “vaccine hesitancy” as a gift in any sense…
That's why it's silly that anyone would claim Trump's covid response was anything but disastrous.
Nope, they weren't
To quote their own R&D lead: "Pfizer's head of vaccine and research and development, Kathrin Jansen, had said on November 8 that they "were never part of the Warp Speed". They did receive a large initial order, but they didn't partake of Warp Speed for R&D. They did, however, get funding from European governments.
Moderna was the only completely successful recipient of Warp Speed funding. AstraZeneca was the other one, but their offering had issues with blood clotting.
don't be a moron. it's going to take DECADES just to fix the supreme court problem trump and the GOP are 100% responsible for. that's ignoring literally all the other damage trump has done to american society, which will also take generations to fix, if you're being generous
maybe you could ask your beloved capitalist corporate overlords why even THEY see no fucking good coming from trump continuing his corpulent swan dive to the bottom as "leader" of this country
I don’t think the Supreme Court has a “problem”
The institution is working just as intended, arguably the only of the 3 branches.
LOL and next you'll claim to feel the same way if it were 6 corrupt liberal justices instead of 6 corrupt conservative judges
you're getting nowhere in this thread dude. but by all means, keep up your trolling practice
Im trying to engage in civic discussion, not trolling at all.
Are they corrupt because they disagree with you on legal issues or what?
They’re corrupt because they’re actively taking bribes and kickbacks?
While not ideal, this is not anything new.

but no one's kidding anyone here. you are NOT "trying to engage in civic discussion." you aren't going to actually read any of those links. your method of trolling is itself a corruption of endless socratic method questioning which leads nowhere, especially not to you making any actual statements.
it's fucking old, dude. again, you're getting nowhere in this thread
got any more stupid questions?
This is not anything new, Ruth Bader Ginsberg was handsomely provided for her entire career for example. DC is a slimy place!
Bullshit. You're trying to politely advocate for evil. What you're doing is a corrupt mockery of "civic discussion!"
COVID-19 started in late 2019.
I didn’t know starting a global pandemic was one of the presidential powers but noted.
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being awful, 10 being excellent), how well do you think trump & his administration handled the COVID-19 pandemic?
A 3? He did give everyone some trump bucks. Honestly if he had given more to the people and promised more to the little guys instead of his rich pals, he might have won a second term on that alone. It wouldve been terrible, but people are fickle and stupid.
I think he lost all points when he started actively trying to make the pandemic worse
Thats very subjective, it wasnt just him, because im pretty sure biden has done worse with covid, trump barely dealt with it, but now biden has essentially made a it known that covid is over. No more mask, in fact lets ban them. Free covid tests? Nah 70 dollars now. Social distancing, no fuck you go back in the office.
These issues biden is facing while dealing with covid is the same issue trump had to deal with, corporate ass holes who want all the profits. People shit on trump because hes terrible, but to some degree his derangedness might have been a positive. Think of the alternative.
Hillary Rodam Clinton is one of the most paid off politician there ever was. The whole Clinton family is a disgrace to America. She and everyone else claims they wouldve done better, but i doubt Hilary actually would of. She comes off as the type that would've prolonged it even more if she ever did a shut down at all.
If he didn't kill the pandemic response group, and just sat back letting Fauci do his literal job...that giant orange turd could have done nothing but continued golfing and coasted into reelection.
But because he's a giant narcissistic megalomaniac whose paper-thin self-esteem was critically fractured when Obama hurt his fee-fees...he undid tons of Obama stuff out of spite and thought he and his people knew better than anyone else and highly politicized it.
6.5? Operation warp speed was by all accounts incredibly successful and saved tons of lives.
Just a reminder that the us had the most confirmed covid cases in the world, most confirmed covid deaths in the world, and the 13th highest rate of covid deaths in the world (worse than 92% of the rest of the world!). Oh and in 2019 Oregon just barely avoided having the US lose its "eradicated" status for measles which would make the US the only developed nation in the world to do so. Astoundingly the reason as to why these things happened was in question but surely record amounts of people remaining unvaccinated wasn't a contributing factor. And surely having a president suggest such dynamite and wildly effective cures such as hydroxychloroquine, bleach, or literally suntanning your internal organs rather than a vaccine didn't have any effect whatsoever.
Having the best data in the world isn’t the indictment you think it is.
Almost did by 2020.
Since 2016, it continues to spiral down the drain with every additional moron voicing support for and planning to vote for your boy, Trump.
Just because I dissented doesn’t mean he’s “my boy”
