I mean actual proper research, not CIA propaganda. I want to learn what truly was censored, both when it comes to politics and culture like books or film, and actual material reasons why.

Preferably stuff that destroys the typical Western bullshit about no freeze peach lol, I want to put it against Western censhorship and propaganda.

I think Hakim has some videos on the USSR censorship. However as as an atheist myself I think suppression of religion is a good thing when does properly. In the USSR the suppression of of religion through their methods lead to the use of those religious individuals for right wing capitalist "resistance" and was a large reason for the decline into the current broken oligarchy..

yea it's the ideal policy however it's also just bad policy. There's a reason China's religious freedom works so well (they only really supress fascist death cults, of course).

Doesn't Germany automatically enroll you in your local church tithe unless you opt out of it? IIRC that's where a lot of their church affiliation data comes from, so it would make sense if the former East Germany simply wasn't doing that.

germany automatically does what now

It's called Kirchensteuer and it's deducted from your paycheck automatically if you're on the church rolls. You get put on the church rolls as a kid if your parents get you baptised. You can get yourself taken off but it's a whole process, the system is clearly designed to keep as many people paying the tax as possible.

Same in Sweden, and it's an extra 1% tax. Luckily it's easy to quit, you just need to sign a paper and send it in

hard disagree, when it comes to parts of reality that still aren't definitively answerable by science people will come up with silly and absurd ways to explain it. China's policy makes much more sense, banning religion is absurd, mostly because actually clearly defining it is either difficult or impossible

I agree with this. I think the best way prevent organized religion from undue influence over public policy, or over individuals in bad personal situations, is to provide reliable and complete public services that are typically provided by religious groups in capitalist countries. For example, addiction support groups. Religious persecution just feeds into martyr complexes.
