Last time I went to a church, they made people take their hats off, didn't they do so back then? Or maybe they made an exception for "milliner's junk".
Probably depends on the church. I've been to one where some people sometimes wear pajamas.
Women generally keep their hats on in churches, to represent humility before the Lord, men take their hats off, for the same reason.
