People always say this as though you can suddenly game smoothly on linux. Sure, most games do work but half the games need you to do some voodoo magic to make it work or make it work properly with the things you expect to work.
For example, getting a 12 button pad to work on mouses (several brands, and there arent many to choose from) is either wonky, broken or needs windows to bind the buttons.
Thats fine, theres other games. Anything with anticheat is a no-go. Some games require a specific configuration of packages, others will jusr break on a new update. VR? forget it.
So gaming on linux is just hoping the OS supports it the stuff you like and that your friends dont mind waiting 5 minutes to several hours for you to figure out how to get a game they want to play with you set up properly.
Realistically, this cannot change until hardware manufacturers and game devs properly support linux.
