They've really normalized this shit to the point they don't understand why it's wrong...
It's just like 1/6, there's a few that are serious and dangerous, and they're hiding among a large group of fucking idiots and using them as human shields.
Normalizing violence is something fascists always do before the actual violence, they're getting people desensitized to the idea of it.
they've never understood it to BE wrong, much less why. all they know is the fear mongering rhetoric of "they're coming to take your guns, turn your kids gay, and forcibly terminate your pregnancies" along with the whole "you're not a real man if you're not violent" ideal, since the GOP stance can't win on policy
My dad was recently telling me a story from back in the 90s when he worked in a rural Wisconsin town close to the Illinois border and his co-workers would "joke" about shooting at cars with Illinois license plates. It's crazy to me just how long the right has had a culture of sharing fantasies about being violent towards the left. It's no wonder that the vast majority of mass shooters turn out to be far right nut jobs, they've been raised in a culture that glorifies violence against people they disagree with.
