Reminds me of how apparently Flavor Flav sponsored the US Women's Water Polo team because he heard they we had minimal funding and were working multiple jobs plus trying to keep up with their training or something like that.

Its kinda sad to think about, but also I guess very American. Hoping some benevolent rich person blesses you and your sport with money so you can hopefully keep doing that sport to win a medal.

There was something similar back in the day where The Grateful Dead sponsored the Lithuanian Olympic basketball team because they were hard up on funds for equipment, so they ended up with tie-dye uniforms
