Hi everyone! I recently migrated the Documentaries community from Lemmy.world to our new home at Lemmy.cafe. There's a longer post as to why here for another community I brought over, but one of the big benefits was the ability for the Beehaw community to join in and participate, as they are defederated from lemmy.world.

The Documentaries community is... Nah yeah it's just documentaries, innit mate? But it's good ones! So if you like a good little doc here and there, in between yer netflix and yer podcasts, well by gosh this might be the community for you!

We've got all kinds; war docs, environmental docs, history docs, science docs, even got some weirder docs that'll make ya scratch your head as your mind absorbs what ya just took in, like a drug, but informational.

If that sounds like something that'd interest you, then be sure to check it out and maybe even subscribe over at:

Hi everyone! I recently migrated the MealtimeVideos community from Lemmy.world to our new home at Lemmy.cafe. There's a longer post as to why here, but one of the big benefits was the ability for the Beehaw community to join in and participate, as they are defederated from lemmy.world.

If you're familiar with the old MealtimeVideos from reddit, it's quite similar to that. But for those unfamiliar, the main draw of the community is that it collects high-quality vidoes, oftentimes edutainment, and provides the duration of the video in the title, so you can select one that will slot in with your breakfast, lunch, or any other meal!

Of course, you don't have to be eating to enjoy the videos, but meal watchers are the main demographic, I suspect.

If that sounds like something that'd interest you, then be sure to check it out and maybe even subscribe over at:

I felt Lemmy has lacked original creativity with writing in particular. A lot of content is links and ai generated art. I wanted a place for some original work. I would love to see folks join in with their own analysis or work.

I've posted a few of my own poems and look forward to more contributions. Welcome to a new community folks!

Hi there! Full disclosure this is my community that I run. There's not really any active people but I'm trying to grow into a space that anyone can talk about any music they'd like! It also acts as a personal music blog for myself, I talk a lot about hip hop and rap but don't let that scare you away from talking about any other genre. If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

I noticed there was a lack of classic wow content on here and people have told me during in-game chat that they have never heard of Lemmy so I thought, lets change that and bring two great things together.

When I’m a small prey mammal and I’ve evolved to survive the barren rocky landscape by optimizing into a tan egg

Origin:

For posts about animals that loosely fit the description above. While the animal does not have to hit all the requirements, it should hit some of them:

  • Type: Prey
  • Class: Mammalia (mammal)
  • Habitat: Barren rocky landscape
  • Appearance: Similar to a tan egg

Please leave a comment in the pinned post (here) if you would like to be a moderator. I don’t expect it to be too much work, and it should be perfect for someone who hasn’t been a moderator before.

You can also help get the community off the ground by foraging for content and sharing cool things you find related to tan eggs (articles, photos, images etc.)

You might have heard of the SMBC webcomic; if not you're in for a good time! It's available at https://www.smbc-comics.com/, and is a webcomic about nerdery of various sorts, with a special focus on clown reproduction practices.

It's been around a while, so I'm posting the daily comic as Zach posts it to the site, and posting old comics until it catches up in like a decade

I created a community for posting about the Peanuts comic you're probably familiar with. The comic was created by Charles M. Schulz, born in Minneapolis, MN, and ran from 1950 to 2000. The cast of characters will get quite large, but I'm posting daily strips starting from the first comic from 1950, so you can come watch as everyone gets introduced. Right now there's a lot of cute Snoopy going on.

Current mod of stardewvalley on .ml is inactive. And, I got banned on lemmy.ml. This post for more context

I hope my post doesn't break the rules ; I'd like to invite as many people as possible to participate to Sunnyvision, the summer edition of the Lemmyvision song contest.

It's a fun way to celebrate summer, and discover new music, more info on the original post, quoted below !

TL;DR

  • In ~~this thread~~ the thread on !lemmyvision@jlai.lu, in the comments, post a song that was released in summer of any year.
  • Next week, you'll be able to vote for your favourite song from the songs posted here.

Remember that time I wanted to set up a smaller scale Lemmyvision for summer? Yeah me neither.

But here it is, it's still summer for a week, so..

Welcome to Lemmyvision's summer edition, Sunnyvision!🌞

If you don't know what Lemmyvision is, check out the sidebar!

The aim is to promote different languages and cultures from around the world, to share more between our online communities across Lemmy, and discover songs from lesser known artists.

The first edition concluded on April (https://jlai.lu/post/6041838) with 9 instances/countries/communities participating! The Northern Boys - Sexy Train (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VXKhJfRQ7k), the feddit.uk submission, won!

For this 'lighter' edition, the goal is to celebrate the last week of summer, with some summer related tunes. You do not need to bring your instance/community, everyone can share a song, no matter what instance they're on, as long as they can federate here!

Rules

  • Just post a song that was released in summer, from any year you want
  • At the end of the week I'll gather all the songs posted in this thread
  • You'll then be able to listen to a playlist with all those songs, and vote for your favourite!

Spread the word if you can, and I hope you have fun, and that everyone can discover new music! 🎶

It's been months since this community's original home at kbin.social (RIP), and the summer-fall window's still hot up the rhythm gaming world, as a few days ago, Sunrise Showdown, vivid/statis' second official rhythm game tournament (though with teams instead of individuals, and in a Jet Lag-esque deckbuilding format), had just started a few days ago.

Still, it's a fan-run fediverse hub for all things about that one fun, quirky rhythm game-visual novel-puzzle hybrid with an aura of scifi and mystery at your fingertips, so if you're a fellow fan of rhythm games with extensive lore and stories, come join us for the wild ride (also looking for addt'l. mods and designers)!
