I'm an enormous Jurassic Park fan and I really hated the 3 Jurassic World movies. I remember watching Godzilla 2014 and thinking Gareth Edwards should have been chosen to direct JW. Hiring him was really the only thing they could have done to make me actually hopeful for this next film. I'm already worried though because it sounds like they're already trying to rush the production. July 2025 seems like way too quick of a turnaround.

I watched Jurassic Park when it originally came out in theaters and many more times since then. I am happy to say that I have never soiled my memory of that movie by watching any of the sequels. They really should have let it be. The same goes for Independence Day and Grease.

I don't mind jp2 and 3, anything past that though is just a shameless money grab

2 and 3 were also shameless money grabs, they just had a bit of artistic value as well.

I thought Jurassic World Dominion was the final one? Wasn't that why they brought back so many of the original cast? And it was pretty terrible, and dragged heavily towards the end.

Hollywood is addicted to established IPs, find some courage and be inventive again, please.

4!? Since when was there a Jurassic World 2 and 3? Did they not do any promotions of them or something or do I live under a rock?

[–] buycurious@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Well, that’s understandable, all the commercials/promotions could feel the same.

The 2nd one was about the meteoric rise of the sea-monster dinosaur working his way to the top of the corporation’s organizational structure to become CDO (Chief Dinosaur Officer) and running the park.

The 3rd one was about a hostile takeover of the corporation and the sea-monster dinosaur via Indominus Rex and it’s “Board of Raptors” looking to take back over the park due to the previous poor management.

/I also don’t really remember seeing anything for the 2nd or 3rd one

Ohh, I get the title now. The Dinos run everything…

I really enjoyed 2 (The Lost World: Jurassic Park) when it came out in 1997. Not as tight as 1 (script etc) but it was still directed by Spielberg and took took the special effects a little further.

3 wasn’t directed by Spielberg and was awful in my opinion. I hated it.

I hated 3 until the new movies came out and we have since reconciled with one another.

The last one made 1B with a $165 budget. However, the revenue has been going down and domestically we are checking out.

Personally the raptor gun made me check out.
