It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

I don't know why this take hits me so hard. It's so utterly comical in my brain. It's such a bizarre idea to me that we're going to be bleeding the users who have been here when it was literally only hexbear after a week or two of federation because, what, do they think their posting power is going to sway people over there? This is one of the least controversial site decisions to have happened over on this side of the coin. The idea of this being a phenomenon that will happen with multiple, let alone even one of our pre-federation users is so utterly incompatible with my mental model of Hexbear that I can't fucking get over it. It's fucking fascinating strangelove-wow

if you are one of these people planning to exodus to blahaj full-time please let me know because it’s too good of a bit to keep to yourself

The best part is that I know for sure a few blahaj members have opened accounts here.

Surely hexbear will bleed a ton of members to the site that just offended a bunch of our queer comrades...

CW: mentions of CSA"No, you don't understand! The comm was called fauxbait as in faux jailbait! I'm not jacking it to children just adults that look like children, and are sexualised because of how childlike they look! No this isn't CP with extra steps! You're just sensitive!" morshupls

Actual argument I saw during lemmyNSFW defed.

They responded to me accusing me of being transphobic for saying I wouldn't want to date a chaser

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I saw that too. Truly vile shit.

[–] HornyOnMain@hexbear.net 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah at that point I was going to bring up like, how lots of people reported the message, and how they had a site wide struggle session over it that the head mod had to step into, so obviously it wasn't just me thinking that, but then I just decided that anyone saying anything that disingenuous wasn't worth engaging and just logged off

How is that person not banned holy shit

[–] AcidSmiley@hexbear.net 41 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Because Moss, the head mod of c/196, is a chaser as well, and blahaj zone's idea of trans inclusivity is saying trans rights a lot and then doing nothing against the transphobes in their midst because user count is more important than safety. They also still haven't banned Mewtwo, the guy who claims that we're all just conservatives who fake being trans. Defederating was the right idea, i don't feel safe with that cesspool around.

hexbear: real bear. in their lane, unbothered. probably knows how to swim.

cringe blahaj: marketable slop. cotton-polyester blend. definitely can't swim

https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/2137332

it's always the same comment

[...] being exposed to Hexbear’s community and content has made me extremely concerned. [...] There are posts denying genocide, calls to violence, blatant Russian propaganda, apologists galore for authoritarianism, and the constant assurance that anyone not agreeing with these ideas was obviously a Fascist.

[–] iridaniotter@hexbear.net 46 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Like five people are going to make accounts over there while retaining accounts here so they can still post on both, so basically hexbear has fallen.

Also do we even have the version of lemmy that lets you block communities

[–] ZoomeristLeninist@hexbear.net 38 points 1 year ago

you could always block comms. soon we will be able to block whole instances

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 42 points 1 year ago

i know i can get in a cutthroat debate over here over the amount of communists that can fit on the head of a pin and not block/ban anybody involved, have a fun time with the same people the next day---what the fuck could they possibly offer superior to that?

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 40 points 1 year ago

The decision was unanimous with us.

We literally all collectively said “fuck ‘em”

[–] SootyChimney@hexbear.net 40 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Just the existence of 196 on that site makes it awful. Why did they see fit to host a bunch of transphobic, nationalist edgelords? Comments I've seen from there make me think their own userbase is unsure about staying.

[–] SaniFlush@hexbear.net 40 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm still not sure how Lemmy works.

We've certainly gotten some people migrating from there

When we nuke lemm.ee I expect the same

[–] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 38 points 1 year ago

My brain can't wrap myself around this comment because it so obviously means they're migrating over here

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 36 points 1 year ago

This is unironic every accusation a confession/projection territory

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 35 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes I'm sure the people that have been here for 3 years without any federation are going to leave because they aren't federated with chasers that say "people of nato" anymore.

Absolutely wild take.

So did hexbear ended up defederating from blahaj? Last I saw there was a statement from the hexbear community over on blahaj. Now blahaj said something like hexbear instantly defederated while blahaj admin was asleep and couldn’t take care of the problems. Interesting how hexbear defederated this time, oh how the turns have tabled.

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

yeah, we defederated. it wasn't worth subjecting vulnerable members of our community to transphobia, ableism, and racism coming from or being defended by the mod team. "taking care of the problem" in their eyes was a scolding while on hexbear we've permabanned site mods for far less. our mod team made the call and the userbase was unanimously in support of the decision.
