birding
A community for people who like birds, birdwatching and birding in general!
Feel free to share your photos and other birding-related content here. If a photo you post isn't yours, please credit the original creator! Additionally, it would be appreciated if the location of the sighting and a date were given when a photo or question is posted. You do not have to give the precise location, something like "Northern Idaho, June 2023" or even "North-Western US, June 2023" suffices.
Yeah, when i saw that flamboyant hoopoe i was immediately thinking of you all, haha.
I also really enjoy the birds i know in different setting, like the beach blackbird or hearing the mountain wood pigeon (no 'd') coo.
I was in Kauai recently. I go there once a year if I can, and I've read about invasive parakeets being an issue there, but never seen any. One night on my last trip I was at the beach, and a straight up swarm flew over. I'm talking about sky filled with birds, and they go back as far as the eye can see. It was a crazy sight to see.
No "d" in pigeon, btw.
I should have known, i looked that up before. Somehow i just want to write it with a 'd'. Thank you, i think this will push me now to never do it again :)
There is a very similar word that has a d before the g: pidgin. It’s a form of a language (usually English) which is simplified and commonly spoken by non-native speakers.
I actually think the problem is Pokémon and the Pidgey line
On the ledge in the fridge you can fidget with a smidgeon of pigeon.
English is dum.
