Mustang is a model, not a sub-make.

Title seems intentionally misleading. It's not the Mustang. It's a Mustang branded car likely to be based on or similar to the Ford GT. They aren't doing what Chevy did with the Corvette C8.

I think it's still silly to dilute what good will was left of the Mustang name. Even if it's for a new GT-like supercar.

Ford finally revealed the Mustand GTD and the rumors were totally wrong. It isn't mid engined at all. Bonkers machine none the less, but it goes to show how 1 source mistakenly claims a vehicle is mid engined and then that gets repeated endlessly as if it is fact.

I do have to give Ford credit for releasing such a crazy vehicle though. I hope it puts the smack down on some of the German rivals.
