5.8” is my sweet spot. Just enough to be one-handable while still big enough for media consumption. 6.1” is my limit.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That's what she said

4.7" 16:9

And no, bezeless doesnt mske bigger OK. 4.7" was big 10 years ago, and is still plenty big if you ask me.

Bring back the smaller phones!

[–] Dax87@forum.stellarcastle.net 2 points 1 year ago

Agreed.

I will say I got to handle a galaxy fold 4 and if a screen has to be bigger, I don't mind as much as long as it's narrow like that phone. I was still able to one-hand it comfortably.

Yup, that was the iPhone 6 screen. If Jony Ive’s dream of a glass slab would come true, a phone of that size (under 7mm thickness by the way) with a bezeless display would have been at around 5-5.5 inch. That’s what phones should be like now instead of horrible camera bumps and notches.

Notches are completely fine imo. I thought I'd hate it but I really never noticed it. We didn't lose anything when they added it

I'd immediately upgrade to a phone with 16:9 bezel-less screen and non-rounded corners.

5.8-6.3 range is pretty ideal. I'm running a Pixel 7 Pro rn and I like it but it's too big.

Alternatively I'd love a Fold 5 if it wasn't so expensive lol

The idea of "best" for something that people have different preferences about makes little sense.

I'd like under 5.5" on a modern design with minimal bezels resulting in a device no larger than the Nexus 5. The fact that nobody's selling such a phone makes me think most people prefer something else. Everything is huge now, but some are huger than others, demonstrating there's still a range of preferences.

6 inch is the perfect size for me. The S23 with no notch, thinner, lighter and even smaller bezels would be my dream phone.

Again people, diagonals without aspect ratio is pointless, because there's a lot of variation on the sizes.

I think mine is 6" 16:9. The Galaxy Note 3 at 5.7" 16:9 was pretty damn close to my ideal. I still find phones a bit too small (read: narrow) for my liking.

Not as much screen size difference as overall weight. Pixel 4 was good. Pixel 6 is a lead weight trying to get your pants off.

[–] Rustmilian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

as much screen space as possible.

[–] Pyroglyph@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Surely that would become inconvenient at a certain point. Do you constantly plug your device into a 4K TV to get the most screen real estate?

[–] jacktherippah@lemdro.id 2 points 1 year ago

I want as much screen as possible but not so big that I can't fit it into my pocket so i think around 6.7-6.9 would be ideal.

[–] skele_tron@feddit.org 1 points 2 months ago

Best one? I wish phones under 6" and more close to veing just 5" were still a thing, so it fits pockets nicely and I CAN TOUCH THE OPPOSING DIAGONAL EDGE WITH MY THUMB

I specifically got a pixel 5 because of it's small size and great screen. It was between this and the Asus zenfone 8.

I opted for the pixel mostly because of the easy custom ROM support so I could decouple from Google and their terrible software updates.

Minimum of 6, since I do things like read comics on my phone and it makes it easier to see without having to keep zooming in.

5.8 - 6.2" and I personally prefer a longer aspect ratio. Makes it easier for single handed use.

I like em big. My 6.8" S22 Ultra feels kinda small, 7.2" Mate 20 X all the way
