Big execs throwing darts at a wall of 'IPs we haven't ruined for 5 years' finally hit on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory eh?
I will add this to the big list of films that I choose to believe never happened.

At the end of the day what matters is if it's good, but this looks bad. Everything about it feels like it's desperately trying to be whimsical but it's all forced and flat.
This brings up a good point actually. How are we feeling about Depp's Willy Wonka almost 20 years later? People hated it when it first came out but I've heard more positive things in recent years. Allegedly it's actually closer to the books than the Wilder version. But I've never read the book.
It is closer but i was reaaalllly looking forward to hearing and seeing Johnny Depp's wonka sing the boat song
This looks terrible. Just everything about it just looks gross.
Except Hugh Grant.
It's both too big and too flat all at once.
Another reboot? Bet it won't break even.
Well, it's from the person who made paddington. But I am also in a "why?" sort of question.
I am not impressed, but am probably not their target market lol.
Why is Wonka being played by an actor in his mid twenties?
It's a prequel. He's younger.
Timothee Chalamet just doesn't seem like the right fit for this role. He's just not selling it for me. Maybe it's because I've watched Dune too many times.
His performance just doesn't have whimsy in it. You can tell he's trying but it feels really forced. Wonka needs an exceptional performance, not just a big name.
maybe it will at least confirm the theories of that guy who connected wonka and snowpiercer to the same universe
It had me at Paddington
It's both too big and too flat all at once.
