But at conception aren’t all fetuses female? Isn’t it a few weeks in or more that some become male? That’s at least partly why females have clitorises and males have nipples…

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fetuses don't exist yet at conception. We're all officially enbies now.

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Oh yeah you’re right

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

But later produces the small cell.

[–] DankOfAmerica@reddthat.com 16 points 1 day ago

Why didn't they say egg and sperm lol

"On" means a circuit belonging, at time of observation, to the larger number.

"Off" means a circuit belonging, at time of observations, to the nothing number.

These people are on a hilariously dumb level of evil. They can't be for real with this.

YOU KNOW WHO I WORRY ABOUT COMING INTO WOMEN'S BATHROOMS, CONSERVATIVES?

CIS MEN.

I HAVE LITERALLY NEVER HAD A TRANS WOMAN MAKE ME FEEL UNSAFE IN THERE. BUT I HAVE HAD CIS MEN FOLLOW ME IN AND ATTEMPT ASSAULT.

MEN DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH THE CONVOLUTED STEPS OF TRANSITIONING TO GAIN ACCESS TO WOMEN'S BATHROOMS, YOU FUCKING IDIOTS

MAYBE ADDRESS THAT FIRST? NO???

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 40 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

They believe that anyone can claim they're a woman now and that's it. And once it's done they can just walk into women's bathrooms. They're just telling on themselves, projecting on trans people. They're just sex obsessed freaks, all of them.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I know. I was raised in a fundie church. I did not escape unscathed. They're fucked up perverts.

[–] gingernate@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

I grew up in a fundie church as well. No one escapes unscathed. Glad you got out. I hope you're able to heal. Fuck Bill Gothard!

I've said that if I was wealthy, I would force legislation that was trans friendly by (as a cis woman) going into women's bathrooms in Congress, standing on toilets, and staring at women.

Women's bathrooms don't have urinals! There's no reason for anyone to be afraid of anyone seeing anything in there, unless they stand on toilets, and Im fully of the opinion that the gender of the person doing that has nothing to do with how creepy it is!!

Maybe if you're actually worried, all bathrooms should be, I dunno, gender neutral with full doors that close all the way? For maximum safety?

And I believe nothing can get that point across quite like demonstrating that I, as an almost middle aged, fat woman who looks like I could safely run for a Rwpublican seat, standing on toilets and staring at people.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

They made a bathroom at my university that’s gender neutral with stalls that are fully ceiling to floor with no gaps in the door.

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 2 days ago

And this is how it should be everywhere!

I’m kind of worried about your safety now, since public restrooms don’t generally have toilet lids. Perhaps bring a stool to safely appear to be standing on the toilet.

Since there is insufficient cell differentiation at conception to produce any reproductive cells, does that mean that according to the white house, all people are legally non-binary now?

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 87 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Female gametes are expressed first, so we've all been forced to be women

[–] Windex007@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are they expressed AT CONCEPTION?

[–] Lennny@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

This is what is expressed during conception.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Who would have thought that Trump would be the first female president of the United States

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Actually, he's the first agender president. Embryos don't produce any gametes at conception. The idea that embryos are all female is a myth spread by people who don't believe in nonbinary sex.

We did it, we broke the glass ceiling.

A little more seriously, we in fact start as non-binary instead of as female as it's usually said. How nobody said that before?

Embryos can't produce gametes. Everyone is agender now.

I would think "if you have a Y chromosome, you're male" would be a better definition to fit what they're trying to do

[–] Brainsploosh@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

Except for the people who have XXY and rarer combos

[–] kipo@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Chromosomes are almost never tested at birth, and so 99% of people walking around don’t actually know what chromosomes they have. Enforcing any law based on chromosomes for purposes like this would be nearly impossible.

[–] yozul@beehaw.org 3 points 22 hours ago

Nobody's checking the size of sex gametes that embryos are producing at conception, either. Didn't stop them from saying that.

What, are they going to start having people provide sperm or eggs at the DMV so that they can use a set of tiny calipers to figure out how to fill out the gender on your license?

[–] jonsnothere@beehaw.org 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

There's like a not insignificant 1% of people who are intersex where looking at chromosomes can get tricky.

[–] MBM@lemmings.world 6 points 1 day ago

Surely there are also people who can produce both/neither reproductive cells. Definitely neither, at least.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 15 points 2 days ago

As if the right would care.

[–] AnonomousWolf@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yea it's not perfect, but it's somewhat functional. Compared to what they decided to go with.

the thing is that there is no good hard definition of sexes, the best you can do is just go "they fill the general role of male" but guess what! that includes trans people :))

[–] GrilledCheese@lemmy.blahaj.zone 98 points 2 days ago (6 children)

So we’re all female. Neat!

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I’ve been using the wrong bathrooms all this time. I need to start walking into women’s bathrooms, saying “it’s ok, Trump defined me as female”.

“You know what we mean!”

So we’re back to gender being a social construct then.

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 50 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What about people who produce neither?

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 48 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They usually handwave and claim "they don't count" because they can't reproduce, assuming that somehow means they can be ignored.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 19 points 2 days ago

i don't think embryos produce any reproductive cells right away so that handwave would have to cover... everyone

It’s the gamete crowd, but adapted for the crowd that can’t spell “gamete”.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Maybe I'm a late bloomer but I started producing reproduce cells long after conception

Is... is that the actual wording?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org 44 points 2 days ago (10 children)

Holy shit. Surely those who drafted this realize the importance of wording in legal documents. What an egregious error.

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why would you think that? These lines were written by fascists to appeal to morons. Proper wording only matters for those of us that live in reality.

I'm no biologist, but I'm pretty sure nobody produces gametes at conception. If you want to be pedantic, oocytes form before birth, but actual sperm and eggs don't show up till puberty (feel free to correct me).

Now, I would LOVE if we don't assign gender till puberty, but I still don't like the method.

I guess the nicest thing I could say about this is that I'm glad that if they're going to be evil, at least they're bad at it.

[–] batmaniam@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I recommend everyone visit the DMV as soon as possible to change their license. It's an order from the commander in chief.

Now that I think of it: every DMV should be only be able to issue licenses with a female designation. Facts and law suites don't care about your feelings, snow flakes.
