The EU parliament had a vote to abolish DST, and it passed. They just forgot to hammer out the details, then COVID and Ukraine happened, so focus shifted.

I hope they'll pick up the ball again at some point.

I find going on and off DST to be kind of a nuisance, but I don't have strong feelings about it one way or the other. It seems like the experience varies from place to place, and your region's distance to the equator is an important factor. The closer you are to the equator, the less necessary DST is.

Historically, some of the regions that went off of DST much prefer it that way, and never looked back. But others regretted opting out of it, and went back to doing it again after everyone complained about it.

I'm sure 47 will make it all about him, whatever he does. And it will probably be a chaotic mess of software patches when they try to implement it. There will be far worse problems to deal with during the Stupid Ages, but throw this one on the pile I guess.

Probably the only good thing he'd ever do, look forward to seeing how they fuck it up.

It’s weird how I watched VEEP last year and here it is coming true.

It's the American way, every four years Congress gets one thing done.

If he doesn't, I'll shoot him myself. Canada will probably come up with some other shitty excuse once they can't say they do it for US trade any more though.

I don't really like having clock shifts, but I will say that it's less obnoxious in 2024 when most of my clocks update automatically.

In, say, 1990, it was an ongoing headache to have to manually fiddle all the timekeeping devices twice a year. Invariably, there'd be a timepiece or two that I'd forget about and not update until months later. Now I typically don't even notice, just have one slightly-groggy day a year and one day a year when I wake up early.

I have that internal clock punishment thing going on. Since the last change I've been on time twice, and I probably won't be on track until it changes back and ruins me again. I used to forcefully hack it by having energy drinks for a week or so but these days one or two of those and blood comes out. At least at my current job nobody will hassle me about my hours if I still get the work done, but I miss being able to maintain a schedule that makes sense.

Then there's my animals. They will never understand and give me the look of "come on, this wasnt funny the last 5 years so why are you doing this again?"
