I picked up Peter Watts’ Blindsight a few weeks ago not realizing that it was ‘hard’ sci-fi. (kbin.social)

Whew! What a ride. Will definitely need to re-read to absorb everything. Consciousness, algorithms, game theory, “like us” reasoning, hierarchy/control, disability—lots of stuff going on.

If you have developed a taste for the hard stuff then I recommend the works of Greg Egan. "Axiomatic" is nice.
