Thank you to @carpoftruth@hexbear.net for covering my position as Supreme Dictator of the Goddamn News while I was moving and getting set up in my new home in a top secret Kremlin-funded bunker five hundred feet below the ground. Our regularly scheduled programming returns this week.

On October 9th, Daniel Chapo won the Mozambique general election with about 70% of the vote. Chapo is the head of FRELIMO, the Marxist-Leninist party of Mozambique's liberation, which fought an internal anti-communist resistance called RENAMO which was backed by Rhodesia and apartheid South Africa; Frelimo won in 1975. However, as the USSR fell, Frelimo began to allow elections inside Mozambique, and has ruled the country with significant majorities in each election ever since.

The main opposition party inside Mozambique is Podemos, which is led by Venancio Mondlane, a former member of Renamo and trained inside the USA. He alleges that his polling figures predicted a majority win for him, not Frelimo, and has accused Chapo of electoral fraud. There have been the usual slogans about how they yearn for freedom. The EU, of course, "witnessed irregularities." As @WilsonWilson@hexbear.net has pointed out, Mozambique has massive undeveloped gas fields and is outsourcing the development process to France, Norway, the UK, and the USA, while mysterious Islamist groups have popped up to cause chaos in the exact regions which have the gas, slowing the process of actually developing those gas fields. Overall, it appears to be a cookie-cutter colour revolution attempt by the imperial core designed to install a comprador for cheaper resources. Its proximity to BRICS+ member South Africa may also be significant, noting the colour revolution in Bangladesh earlier this year exerting influence near India and China.

Protestors have been battling against the police and government since late October, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries as well as massive disruption, as the government has intermittently blocked access to the internet and social media. As of today, calm appears to be returning, with border crossings beginning to reopen.

While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. Trump taps Mike Huckabee to be his ambassador to Israel.

A few highlights:

  • He has previously spoken out against efforts to negotiate a ceasefire deal
  • Huckabee was a longtime evangelical minister before running for political office and regularly leads "The Israel Experience" trips that take tour groups to sites with Biblical and historical significance
  • In Jan. 2017, Huckabee spoke in the West Bank in front of a banner vowing to "Build Israel Great Again" while touting the policy shift Trump's administration would bring.
  • He refuses to call the settlements in the West Bank settlements, and prefers to call them "communities". He also refuses to use the word "occupation", or even call it the West Bank.

He's ghoulish and sucks obviously, but other than that, he's just another standard neocon, isn't he? Wonder if any Trump fans who were hoping for something different than the standard Republicans and their playbook are getting disappointed with these picks.

But then, it's foreign policy and Israel specifically, so I guess only Nick Fuentes and his groypers care, while the used car dealership owners and MBA failsons who make up the rest of his base either don't care or are happy for more blood for their imperial machine.

german parliament enacts "anti-antisemitism" law effectively banning pro-palestinian speech

article textThe text was ready just in time for November 9. After all, the "traffic light" parties and the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag wanted to use the opportunity to misuse the commemoration of the Reichspogromnacht for a comprehensive attack on freedom of opinion, freedom of assembly, artistic freedom and academic freedom. Nothing else is behind the resolution with the misleading title "Never again is now: Protecting, preserving and strengthening Jewish life in Germany".

The pamphlet, which is to be passed by the Bundestag this Thursday, has nothing to do with the fight against anti-Semitism. After all, what use is it to Jews if the Bundestag is eloquently happy about the "diversity of Jewish life", but at the same time deliberately harasses them with the most stupid distortion possible: by equating the state of Israel and their religious community. This is exactly what happens in the resolution, which is emphatically based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism, which defames criticism of Israeli policy as "anti-Semitic". Rejection of war and genocide or opposition to the illegal occupation policy thus fall outside the spectrum of permissible opinions. A great "diversity" that is being celebrated.

However, other groups are the main target of the resolution. "In recent months, the alarming extent of anti-Semitism based on immigration from the countries of North Africa and the Middle East has become clear," the text states. In addition, there is also an "increase in Israel-related and left-wing anti-imperialist anti-Semitism". The solution to this? Ampel and the CDU are calling for "loopholes in the law to be closed and repressive options to be consistently exploited". This applies "in particular to criminal law as well as residence, asylum and citizenship law".

The addressees of these remarks march in uniformed beatings squads, sit in courtrooms and offices. Dog-whistle politics is the term used when enemy images are named in disguise and released for firing. The resolution may not have the force of law, but it is a signal to the representatives of the "raison d'état" to strike without inhibition when they encounter supposed "anti-Semites" with the wrong religion, the wrong origin or the wrong - because anti-imperialist - convictions. The Springer newspaper "Welt" rightly hopes that this will lead to "a considerable toughening of the approach towards all those who agitate against Israel or against Jews". Anyone following the brutal police attacks on Palestine solidarity camps and demonstrations that are already taking place can easily imagine what will happen next.

But it is not only on the streets and in the immigration authorities that the "pace" is being stepped up. The resolution calls for further bans on associations against "extremist organizations". The internationally active BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) is explicitly mentioned. "Anti-Semitic behavior" at universities should be punished by "appropriate means". These include: "the application of domiciliary rights, exclusion from classes or studies and even de-registration". Funding for art and culture will only be available after an attitude test. Anyone who leans too far out of the window here with criticism - for example of German involvement in the genocide in Gaza - will quickly be out.

According to the will of the traffic-light-coalition and CDU, already severely restricted debating chambers will soon be closed completely. This is also attracting criticism from the middle classes. In the "Berliner Zeitung" newspaper, Olaf Zimmermann, Managing Director of the German Cultural Council, spoke out "against an obligation to make a statement when applying for cultural funding". Deutschlandfunk radio reported on confidential discussions with members of the Bundestag who had "followed the work on this resolution with grave misgivings, in some cases horror". They had felt under pressure from pro-Israeli lobby organizations and the Israeli embassy, among others, and were afraid of "being defamed as anti-Semites and Israel haters by the Bild newspaper".

The consequences of the resolution should therefore come as no surprise to anyone. Especially not for those who are hardened enough to push ahead with the reactionary-militaristic restructuring of the state under the title "Never again is now".

i know this is a somewhat older article but the ramifications for german anti-zionism are terrifying and should be brought to international attention.

the adolfs have finally realized their big mistake was doing genocide against white people

Death to America

[–] SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net 50 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (6 children)

No, like, I think this is 100% true, that was the single biggest error of German imperialism and fascism from the perspective of imperialist interests. If the Germans had just done the Holocaust with the exact same number of deaths but in Africa then I'm convinced that Hitler would have been an obscure historical figure.

Very few people know who Leopold II was and he killed millions upon millions of people in the Congo. The UK was responsible for dozens of millions of deaths just in India alone and all that it gets is a "well, the history and legacy of such a long-lived empire is complicated..." There were concentration camps across Africa years before the Germans brought it to Europe. There would probably be Hitler statues across Germany without anybody knowing he was a "controversial figure", just the same as having statues of colonialist and white supremacists across Europe and America where their historical value is "hotly debated" and all that horseshit.

[–] ourtimewillcome@hexbear.net 39 points 2 days ago

the worst part is that the germans did commit a holocaust in africa. furthermore, many early members of the sa and SS were engaged in german colonialism. the brown shirts originally stemmed from the colonial police in german occupied namibia.

contrasting hitler's reputation with leopold II's specifically drives home just how steeped in white supremacy western society is and how far-reaching the impacts of that are. god damn the west

Not only that, but I think this is why Israel's actions are so mind-bogglingly shocking to anybody who actually believed in a sort of psychological or ideological development of the West on human rights issues and white supremacism over the past hundred years. If your conception of history is that the imperial core "decided" to become less brutal in terms of human rights because their own magnanimity and the legacy of Hitler's inhumane actions casting a spotlight on their own actions, then what's going on in Israel just seems completely random and inexplicably evil. Like, where the fuck did all this come from? It has to "logically" be the product of evil people at the top of Israeli society, some weird regression from a period where we cared about human rights.

I genuinely believe, without a hint of irony and glibness, that there has been ZERO development or "healing" of white supremacism in the last hundred years. ALL the gains in that department have been from people violently opposing that system, such as anti-colonial movements and the Soviets helping those. Inside of Europe, the same attitudes have ruled in the halls of power this entire time, they didn't change or become less white supremacist, only the way in which that supremacism was discussed changed. There's that famous quote on the Southern Strategy where explicitly racist rhetoric was phased out in favour of supporting measures that would inconvenience minorities slightly less directly; you don't discriminate based on race, you just make all black people poor and then discriminate based on wealth, which is much more acceptable in America. Nowadays, that violent opposition has declined with the rise of more detached methods of rule (less armies of redcoats invading Zulu territory, more bleak IMF austerity and debt) and the USSR is gone. So the EXACT SAME white supremacism that fueled Churchill and Leopold and Hitler are fueling Israel and the imperial core today.

The scary realization about Israel is that what it's doing isn't new. It's actually very old. The AI and massive bombs and digital surveillance are, in the grand scheme of things, actually not very meaningful developments. If you time travelled back to the 1900s and talked to the rulers of Europe and described to them what Israel was doing, they'd just be like: "Ah, I see our strategies for domination continue well into the future! Verily, what glad tidings you bring me! Now, I must get back to my fox hunt!" Like, here's some examples that people may not know about:

CW for stories of atrocities, murder, genocide, and brutal SA. Seriously, some of this stuff is awful.

spoiler

In 1919, British Brigadier General, Reginald Dyer, purposefully blocked in an Indian protest filled with thousands of civilians and ordered his soldiers to shoot until they ran out of ammunition. Thousands of people were killed and injured.

During the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya in the 1950s, the British interred thousands of Kenyans in concentration camps. Tens of thousands of people died, thousands were tortured and mutilated andremovedd, including children, with heated glass bottles.

In the Congo, Belgian soldiers severed the hands of people who did not bring in enough rubber, mostly from dead slaves but also from living ones. This eventually became an end unto itself, with soldiers given pay raises based on how many severed hands they collected. These soldiers also did inhumane actions like forcing men toremoved their own relatives.

During French rule of Vietnam during WW2 millions of civilians died of starvation despite there being granaries full of rice, while colonists received the best farmland and the natives received the worst.

During the Korean War, virtually every building in the country was destroyed, to the point where they ran out of targets to hit. 25% of the population was killed.

The potential coming world where there's dozens of Gazas created in response to political instability and immigration isn't us advancing into a grim, depressing future - we're actually just going backwards, rEtUrNiNg To TrAdItIoN, to before and during the colonial uprisings of the mid 20th century. Nothing has changed inside Europe since Leopold. Send Scholz back in time to 1940 and he'd be goose-stepping within the hour.

Julie Alli (host speaker of Salaamedia) now openly refers to it as "Nazi israel" in addition to the "Zionist Apartheid entity" and she even doubled down since this morning while interviewing the coordinator for the Palestine Solidarity Committe Prof. Usuf Chikte. He also on live radio stated that if Zionists don't want to be called Nazis, then they should not be Nazis.

I should start putting these interviews on TankieTube

Maduro praises Lula's statement and temperature drops between Brazil and Venezuela - Brasil de Fato (Portuguese Only)

According to Brazil's President, the country should not meddle in the internal affairs of its neighbors; 'A Point for Lula', said Maduro

Article

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Monday (11) praised the statement made by the head of the Brazilian Executive, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who said he respected Venezuelan institutions. According to Maduro, the speech was a “wise” reflection by the PT leader and he added: “Point in favor of Lula”.

“I agree with Lula. Each country has to find its own way of resolving its issues, its conflicts, its problems. Brazil with its institutions and its sovereign national dynamic, and Venezuela with our sovereign dynamic. I think that's a wise reflection on Lula's part. I could say: Point in favor of Lula,” said the Venezuelan on his weekly program Con Maduro +.

In an interview, Lula had said on Sunday (10) that he would not question the Supreme Court's decision in other countries so that this criticism would not spill over into Brazil in the future. The Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) validated the results of the July 28 elections, which saw Nicolás Maduro win with 51.97% of the vote against 43.18% for opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia.

“I don't have the right to question the Supreme Court of another country because I don't want any country to question my Supreme Court, even when it makes mistakes. Even when it does what it did to me and doesn't allow me to be a candidate in 2018,” said Lula.

According to the Brazilian president, Maduro is “Venezuela's problem” and each president should take care of their own country, without interfering in the affairs of their neighbors. He also stressed that he cannot “fight” with other countries in the region, such as Nicaragua and Venezuela itself.

“I've learned that we have to be very careful when dealing with other countries and other presidents. I think Maduro is Venezuela's problem, not Brazil's problem. I want Venezuela to live well, for them to look after their people with dignity. I'll take care of Brazil, Maduro will take care of him, the Venezuelan people will take care of Maduro, and I'll take care of Brazil. And let's move on. Because I can't keep worrying either. Fighting with Nicaragua, fighting with Venezuela, fighting with I don't know who. I just have to try to fight to make this country work,” said Lula

Lula's speech was also praised by the Venezuelan interior minister, Diosdado Cabello. According to him, “it's never too late” to recognize that this is an important position for the region.

“I would like the whole world to understand this before saying anything about Venezuela. Venezuela's internal affairs are resolved by Venezuelans. There are people who let it slide and then say, 'oh, I was wrong.' We must respect our country and it's good that President Lula is taking this position now. It's never too late,” he said.

He also said that Venezuela will respect the internal decision of all countries, including the United States, which has been imposing sanctions against Venezuelans for seven years. According to Cabello, the US has its own system and decides how its elections are. “If you ask me if there is democracy there, for me there isn't,” he said.

The tension between the two neighboring countries began in the Venezuelan electoral race. The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) was going to send two observers to monitor the election, but backed out after Maduro claimed that the Brazilian ballot boxes “are not audited”. Instead of observers, the Brazilian government sent its special advisor, Celso Amorim, to Caracas during the elections.

Maduro was elected for a third term with 51.97% of the votes against 43.18% for the opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia. The Venezuelan opposition contested the result and claimed to have collected more than 80% of the copies of the electoral records and, according to the right-wing coalition Plataforma Unitaria, this would guarantee Urrutia's victory.

This, coupled with reports of a hacker attack on Venezuela's electoral system, led Maduro to call for an investigation by the courts. The electoral body delayed the release of the detailed results on the grounds of hacker activity, the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) investigated the alleged attacks, collected all the electoral material from the body and heard 9 of the 10 candidates who contested the ballot. Only Edmundo González Urrutia was absent.

The Brazilian government has begun to work with Colombia and Mexico to mediate in the Venezuelan electoral issue. The three governments have issued two joint notes calling for the CNE to publish the electoral records and not the country's courts. The Venezuelan Supreme Court validated Maduro's election and asked for the disaggregated results to be published within 30 days. However, more than three months after the election, the results have still not been published and the electoral body's website is still down.

Lula then oscillated between calling for the situation to be resolved internally, suggesting that new elections be held and saying that he would not recognize Maduro's victory if the results of the minutes were not published and, consequently, his victory at the polls were independently verified.

The relationship between Venezuela and Brazil stabilized momentarily until the BRICS summit, held in Kazan, Russia, from 22 to 24 October. At the summit, the Venezuelan government had hoped to be incorporated into the group as a “partner state”, but was left off the list of 13 new members by a veto from Brazil. Itamaraty's decision outraged Venezuelans.

The reason for the veto was not publicly explained by Lula's government. The president did not attend the event and sent his foreign minister, Mauro Vieira, to lead the delegation. Caracas claims that the decision was a “stab in the back” and that the Brazilian government's “meddling” measure is a way of interfering in local politics.

At a hearing in the Chamber of Deputies, Amorim stressed that the issue of the ballot should be resolved by Venezuelans and that Brazil does not recognize the election of President Nicolás Maduro until the disaggregated results are presented. Amorim did not clearly explain the veto in the BRICS. First, he said that it is necessary to be a country with influence and that represents the region, something that, for him, Venezuela does not fulfill. Secondly, he mentioned the unease between the Brazilian and Venezuelan governments.

In response to the special advisor's remarks, the Venezuelan government summoned the Venezuelan ambassador to Brazil, Manuel Vadell, for consultations. In a statement, Caracas said that the measure was taken after Amorim's “interventionist and crude” statements. The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry also summoned Brazil's chargé d'affaires in Caracas to express its “rejection” of the statements made by representatives of the Brazilian government in relation to the country's electoral process.

[LONG EFFORTPOST]

Hello liberals, I will give my balance on ancaptain's Argentina and how things are as of right now, November 2024. But my talk will not be about the cringe ass ancap, I will talk about Peronism and their role as opposition.

As some of you might recall, milei's violent rethoric against "public" education (and I put public on quotes because I have another definition of what is public and what isn't) triggered a nation-wide response from universities as many of them were occupied by the students. Mine was among the first to do so, not unlikely considering it is an historic hotbed for left wing militacy, even though today it's not as good as it used to be.

Anyways, the movement gained traction but, as with many things, the lack of coordination and some... sabotage from within slowly but surely eroded it. It was to be expected, some universities are not really politicized because of course people who study complex mathematics don't have time to read Marx or something, and others have either shit soccdem or peronist leadership and fighting is not for them. My university ended up abandoning the occupation after like 20 days or so, we fought heavily to keep it running but at the end of the day we had to leave it. During the last assemblies, our struggle was directly against peronists and their party structure, who began to attempt to dissolve the movement to "take the fight elsewhere", in accordance with their general policies.

But nothing is really a failure, no matter how bad it looks. There's always experiences to draw upon and lessons to learn. Our lesson is that you just can't trust peronist-aligned groups, no matter how "radical" they may seem, because they have non-revolutionary agendas and are NOT anti-capitalist, they're just reformists who want to play nice and with some rules. The student's leadership in our university is ideologically aliged with the authorities, all are peronists. Then, a professor in one assembly said "There is fear among the authorities that this kind of assemblies might go out of control and become truly democratic and truly horizontal, some people are indeed fighting not for the common good but for their comfort positions". And he, in just a few sentences, described peronism and how they view the struggle against milei.

There has been a very alarming lack of action from the main confederation of unions, the CGT. They are the ones who say "Okay, general strike" and there will be a general strike, their level of reach and organization is unmatched. Unfortunately, the leadership of the CGT and of the many unions that form it are either all peronists or something else, few if any are leftist. The fact they haven't called for strikes in nearly one year of suicidal policies by milei is indeed alarming, it's especially bad considering the CGT has been active and calling for strikes EVEN against former peronist governments. They're nothing but a rotten group of decadent old white men who weaponized class struggle and left it at the mercy of a grotesque bureaucracy.

So if you don't see much action it's because peronism has an interest to cut a deal and keep people away from doing dangerous commie things. They don't want spontaneous organisation by workers where they take matters into their own hands. After all, peronism is anti-communist despite what some confused folks of the Communist Party think, "United Front" my fucking dick and balls lmfao, losers. I believe that peronism understand milei as a temporary anomaly, that things will "go back to normal" once he expires, they're old fashioned politicians who think the new kind of "outsiders" are short lived. Well, the normalcy we once knew is dead, even more when the latest capitalist crisis cycles are getting worse and worse.

They do want to go out to the streets, but only on their terms. Meanwhile they're trying to craft Cristina Fernández de Kirchner back to a presentable leader, as she just assumed control of the Justicialist Party (main peronist electoral party), but she is responsible for getting us into this mess in the first place. Then, once society reaches a point of near collapse, that's when they'll mobilize and cut a deal with the milei government for some sort of "peaceful transition", maybe in the midst of heavy repression like it happened during the December 2001 Riots. Peronism after all is Capital's safe bet when it comes to "social peace".

Therefore, to me it becomes evident that there must be a concentrated effort to organize the working class OUTSIDE the influence of peronism. It's a job that will take years, or maybe not, who knows. The Trots have been doing that fairly well, if anything since the 2000's they've been consistently growing and taking more spaces than before. And while Trots have a shitton of problems, their general stance is a million times better than peronist "we'll give you a better salary XD" policies that reproduce capitalism. Still, agitation becomes necessary and desirable.

Things will continue to decay, milei might "accelerate" the economy for the midterms but that'll make it crash later down the line. I think our goal as leftists is to convince those who felt betrayed by peronism and who hate neoliberalism to join the ranks of Socialism, and I can tell you slowly but surely more people are feeling just like that.
