American leftists need to adopt their communication strategy. It doesn't work to have educated people lecture the anti intellectuals. They don't want to hear it and they'll have a knee jerk reaction against it. Study, learn and use their own preferred methods instead. Stickers, simple slogans, rants, fucking flags on oversized wankmobiles if you've got one. Whenever there is a direct consequence of the Trump administration, shout it immediately from the rooftops until people get it. Only talking about it years later at the next election will do nothing because it is already pushed away by the propaganda feed. Use their method of communication but keep it factual and don't stoop down to their hatred and lies. It's not about taunting, it's about informing the uninformed and leading them out of the bubble.

Price hikes? Thanks MAGA. Deportations of integrated citizens? Thanks MAGA. No more social security? Thanks MAGA. Leopards chewing on your face? WELL FUCKING THANKS FOR VOTING FOR THE LEOPARDS EATING PEOPLE'S FACES PARTY!

I made these to help us get the message out.

I don't honestly think that would work. They've been conditioned to take comfort in not knowing things. I've seen the thought process unfold in front of me hundreds of times: "If a republican did it, it was a good thing and part of the plan, even if I don't understand how yet." It's exactly the same thought process that they employ for their religion: "God is good and does good things, even though terrible things happen to people all the time that God must have allowed if he exists, there's always a plan, even if we don't know it."

This is why the elites want a return to religion. It teaches its followers to accept things without evidence or against actual evidence. It's a tool to control the masses.

American Leftists also have to fight uphill against both the Democrats and the Republicans media machines. We're literally a volunteer group taking on a trillion dollar industry all the while more moderate dems rrefuse to join us in any kind of boots on the ground fashion. There are more Americans want a party to the right of republicans than Americans who want a party to the left of democrats. We're literally the political minority, perhaps someone with money and more people should step the fuck up sometime soon. Most of us are doing all we can while still working enough to not starve.

You say that like we're ever going to have elections again. Before 1 year is up of 47's reign, they'll assassinate him so Vance, someone who's kore easily controlled, will be president. It's why he was chosen. It's all why they orchestrated the previous 2 attempts. You'll notice that both attempted assassins were both R voters.

Then, before the next election, they'll create some "emergency" that Vance will use as an excuse to declare martial law and cancel elections. Our country just chose actual fascism this week, and that's what it looks like.

[–] Gaspar@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

This is the play for sure. I've seen a lot of discussion in the past few days about "what we need to do next time".

There IS no more "next time". There won't BE any more elections, there is no more turning this around. Millions of people stayed home crying about how the Democrats didn't do enough and even if they fucked up (they did), the people who stayed home and let the Nazis win fucked up worse.

Welcome to the Fourth Reich. We are well and truly fucked.

This may be the only time it works, when people actually get punched in the face. Explaining how they will get punched in the face in the future never seems to work. That's the "educated people lecture the anti intellectual".

Unfortunately the lesson will only last 1 election cycle.

How could the woke liberals do this to us?!

[–] tyo_ukko@sopuli.xyz 22 points 1 week ago

Because they didn't put up these tariffs when they had the chance, so Trump had to do it now.

On an unrelated note, I recently got this leopard as a pet and it's now digesting my face. How do I undo it all?

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

They're mad they lost and now they want to punish us!!!11!! Thanks Obama

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I'm waiting for "why didn't the Dems work harder to stop them" coming from both sides.

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

thats okay because they're sacrificing their bonuses to make the "economy" better. if all just sacrifice a little more, then the economy will get better. the more we sacrifice, the better the economy becomes. sacrifice.

[–] brlemworld@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah, just give 10% to this guy named God

[–] epyon22@programming.dev 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

They could probably give them a jelly of the month club subscription that should keep them happy

[–] CuriousRefugee@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago

But then they might be kidnapped by a bulging, beastly man in a blue leisure suit!

[–] ZagamTheVile@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

They already have heads full of the stuff.

[–] Vanderdeckenscopilot@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Probably even get a cost savings for such a large stock order. Somehow the cost for whatever they produce will still go up though. Record profits next year. Of course that will trickle down to the employees right? Right?

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

Manufacturing already buys in bulk and they would not be likely to get a further discount from a company that knows they are buying up to avoid tariffs. Plus they will need to store the materials, which will most likely incur warehouse fees.

They are also going to be ordering for things that they already have contracts for, so they are trying to avoid losing a bunch of money on materials increases.

Explaining tariffs is actually a decent sign that they are operating in good faith, at least as much as can be expected from a for profit business, and they aren't just swindling their employees. I mean if they post record profits after denying bonuses at a small manufacturing business they are likely to lose the vast majority of their workforce.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Except everyone's trying to order.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

This story has no proper nouns other than PA. It needs more details or else it's a lie that we want to believe.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The fact that so many are believing this anecdote to be real is a good reason why the Dems lost.

Why bother with reality and learning what actual people are experiencing in their actual lives when you can just share made up stories and extreme fringe cases that confirm your world view?

Media literacy is fucking dead.

I work in manufacturing, there's no way a small manufacturing company is going to be able to put up the capital to pre-buy and entire year's worth of product, and then find a place to store it, especially when there have been no details at all released on any potential tariffs.

Everyone needs to realize that trump was saying anything he could possibly say in order to get elected and stay out of jail. He made promises to people so they'd help him. But it is trump, he isn't a man of integrity. He's going to do whatever directly benefits him. He doesn't have to worry about being elected again. Just because he said he's going to do something, doesn't mean he's actually going to do it now that he's gotten what he wants.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah but this anecdote is featured in a tiktok where the person's face is partially visible in front of the post so it's probably true. I can trust a random stranger when they tell me another random stranger said something true

[–] Bob_Robertson_IX@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can trust a random stranger when they tell me another random stranger said something true

Especially when that 'something' aligns with what I want to believe.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Reinforce my existing beliefs with unsubstantiated claims harder, daddy

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago

“Have to get my face in there.”

[–] IHeartBadCode@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago

"He's not hurting the people he's supposed to" Part II, convicted felon screws you.

Oh well, I guess we're doing this again.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

BS. (and I hate Trump).

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 week ago

This is making the rounds but I have yet to see any source.
