The whole series is absolutely fantastic, some of the best "alien" PoVs in fiction, and I love how it keeps that central ethos of understanding across culture and species.

yeah from what i read i didn't sense any brainworms it was genuinely good sci-fi, both tech and social. i liked the writing

i was just worried when they started doing the civilization rebuilding it was going to get cringe on the social aspects so i should give it another go

That "civilization rebuilding" element is extensively examined and critiqued, and I think the ending of the first book is a brilliant and thematically satisfying way to bring everything together. Absolutely give it another go.
