You will not stop hearing about it after it ends because 1/6 of the country will believe the election was stolen regardless of the result.

[–] HomoSexualTransStalinist@hexbear.net 49 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

the light at the end of the tunnel is the hope that there'll be a second january 6th and even more ball tazerings will happen or, potentially even funnier, if there's a liberal blue maga january 6th

[–] Deadend@hexbear.net 41 points 3 weeks ago

The blue MAGA Jan 6th would end up being a violent pogrom against visible minorities in areas that Harris didn’t win for not supporting her enough.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The blue MAGA Jan 6 will just be brunch libs scheduling in advance and holding signs like “Stop being a big fat meanie-head, pretty please?”

There will be a hundred fold military presence too.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, we saw the lib version. A brutal crackdown on protestors and a media pat on the head for pussy hat "protestors"

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 35 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I wish US will finally balkanize, so everyone would have their own one-party state.

[–] frauddogg@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago

Honestly we deserve it

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

Also midterms are just around the corner

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 60 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

I don't understand why it has to last 10 fucking months when over here in this country it's called and over with in 6 weeks

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 33 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

An over correction. Previously, the two parties would decide on a candidate behind closed doors then start campaigning in August.

Then, some good faith people and some corporations stood up and was like "Hey, that means we have no say in who the party selects to be the nominee" so they have their whole primary system to allow for corporations and weirdos who vote in the primary to participate in "democracy"

But then in those days, people had to go around in hot air balloons made out of racism and asbestos as their main mode of transport, so each state's primaries are spaced out because candidates had to take forever to go from state to state (except some that happen on the same day).

And because running a candidate is expensive, each of the potential candidates have to allow time to get corporate donors (or rarely, grassroots support)

So the process went from 6-8 weeks to several months.

And then the capitalists saw the revenue generated from simply covering the primary races. Those ad spots from the campaigning candidates themselves aside, they could run ads next to reports or footage of the debates.

And then they thought "wow, wouldn't it be better if we started covering the race even earlier in the year??"

And now the circus is in town for basically a whole year every 4 years, meaning libs and chuds spend 25% of their time on earth pretending they live in a democracy when even outside of this absurd system, they have gerrymandering, an electoral college and your vote generally only mattering in a swing state. The other 75% of the time is for treats, which is increasingly consumed out of spite for the voters of the other party.

This type of """political engagement""" is not only accepted, it's promoted by the system because other types of engagement such as direct action actually get things done and the system likes the status quo.

Not to mention the proud history of rigging the election. I don't know if they still do it, but the fact they pretend any guy was voted in before the 70's is crazy. When Nixon said he wasn't a crook, he just meant "were all doing it!"
Kennedy getting dead people to vote for him, Dubya getting Florida... Yeah what a democracy.

Money.

It’s all for money. So much fundraising during election times. See if you say the election was stolen you can keep raising money after the election too for even more money. It’s great. It’s fine. Definitely no problem.

[–] Hexboare@hexbear.net 26 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I bet your country doesn't even have a couple months transition period between governments!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago

Nah man, election over and it's time to vacate the premises see ya later enter the next one.

[–] ihaveibs@hexbear.net 22 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Just wanna add that the theatrics are incredibly important too. They need to demonstrate and reinforce that their electoral system is the ONLY thing that matters and there are no alternatives or room for taking matters into your own hands via community action, grassroots campaigning, etc. You pick your democrat or republican ghoul and you'll like it. And we are going to create a false reality via media bombardment 1+ year out to show you how impregnable and immovable this "reality" is

because the whole fucking thing is a contrived media event to gin up support for our masters and make billions off of suckers. Its a seasonal TV show, the vote is just the season finale to trick everyone to believing this shit is actually necessary

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 37 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So do we. deeper-sadness

What country are you from? Interested in adopting a large adult daughter?

[–] HomoSexualTransStalinist@hexbear.net 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 30 points 3 weeks ago

Eeewww! I'm so sorry! cat-trans

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 34 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Lol, 2026 is just around the corner. doomjak

[–] Deadend@hexbear.net 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

We can push the Dems left after that election. It’s important to vote blue no matter what in ‘26 because Glorb Shitto is pushing for horrible policy. ‘28 is president year, and we gotta Vote Blue and never question.

Maybe in 2030 if the Republicans aren’t trying to take away rights.. we might be able to slightly nudge the Dems left, but politely, and after informing them we we’ll still vote no matter what. agony

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 12 points 3 weeks ago

I'm too busy trying to win to propose and follow through on popular policy! Yes, I'm the adult in the room making hard decisions, why do you ask?

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 25 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Eh, I'm kind of looking forward to it. We all know we won't get to see anyone we like win, I made my peace with that years ago. But I will get to see a large group of Americans that I really despise lose. And they will not be able to handle it.

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm really cheering for a blue jan 6th

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

May it lead to eventual balkanization

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

It's so fucking funny — fighting over the most dog shit ideology for the most pathetic reasons, over an aging billionaire and a zero charisma lawyer. Western liberalism is a fucking joke.

[–] frauddogg@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Fuckin mood. I feel like one of those jackasses watching the first Manhattan Project tests from afar. There will come a day where I quote Oppenheimer regarding these times; but right now? I just wanna watch the geyser of liberal tears that are certain to occur like the first mushroom cloud to fruit skyward from afar with a pair of binoculars in one hand, and a blunt between the fingers of the other.

Red or blue, doesn't matter to me. I just know it's gonna be some fuckery and I can't wait to watch.

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

My wife and I are going on an international vacation and will be in the air through election night and into the next day. It's on a Boeing, so assuming we don't crash it's going to be our own little sanity preservation chamber. Hoping that we can make it through the whole two weeks without even hearing about the results.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

You will hear about it on the plane.

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Hoping that steam deck / book / headphones and sleeping should do the trick. Don't really see how any background conversations could penetrate that. Even on typical flights I'm doing everything I can to avoid talking to or even being aware of anyone else on the plane lol

[–] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago

Sorry, we also hate it. I hate it. I really hate it

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago

election season is every 2 years and most of my life it lasted for 4 years, but now that all the elections are stolen/challenged, it's more like 4.5 years with recalls reducing the season to like 1-1.5 years.

it is an efficient and extravagant system for fundraising.

[–] OrionsMask@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Honestlyyyyy. I'm so tired of everything revolving around what's happening in the shitlands, even in other countries we're talking about it, pretending like it makes a difference whether it's Kamala or Trump.

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Hegemony is a MFer

[–] ItalianMessiah@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

No, they're gonna delay it a week before to keep the rest of the world on edge while our politicians just edge to it.

[–] Yukiko@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I’m sick and tired of it. The commercials are disgusting and annoying and I’m sick of hearing them when I just want to watch 80s Price Is Right

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

I would for real pay to watch old shows with commercials from the same year as the show.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

My comrade in communism they're still litigating 2016 lol

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

Hahaha you think it's going to end after the election? Midterms are coming up in just a little over two years! Not to mention counting the votes!

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Unfortunately I have some bad news - the election will most likely go on for weeks after election day. In GOP controlled states - the GOP will lie and say there are "discrepancies". No proof, data or facts will be provided but eventually at least one case will go to the supreme court. And - of course - Trump wins on that day but a façade of democracy and legal procedures plus paperwork is needed so there'll be another couple weeks were the supreme court pretends to debate the issue.

The "deadline" is January 6th. My hunch is that election ends mid-December.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago (6 children)

Also, I hate to be that guy, but we have another election coming up in 2 years so get ready for that, oh and 2 years after that, we have another election, and two years after that, and two years after that, and two years after that...

yeah but what about the MIDTERM ELECTIONS IT NEVER ENDS

every day is christmas

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

I have early voted and thus I am freeeeee!

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

I just want the next week where a decade happens, this is my "going back to brunch" moment

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Agreed. It will be tragic if the election continues for another week like last time in Georgia. Which means, because the lathe turns, it will actually end in an electoral tie and the election will be decided by months of debate in Congress.
