Received a text claiming to be a Kamala ad. It used the language of the Harris campaign but twisted it and lied to trigger people.

So I clicked on it and it led me here: https://progress2028.com

This steaming pile of elephant shit is definitely not from the Harris campaign. This is the rhetoric of the MAGA echo chamber with the veneer of the Harris campaign language.

The initial text named my town. Kamala is focused on schools in [My Town] to ensure all students receive gender affirming care….

In a battleground state.

So that’s happening today.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's extremely telling that they think all of that stuff is bad and part of a secret conspiracy. I wish Kamala was as left as they make her seem.

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 10 points 2 months ago

That is what makes their communist and Marxist comments sound like a 5yr old trying to tell you a story he just made up. She was chosen by Biden because of how moderate she is. That’s also why they’re running with her now. She IS the purple candidate, which is going to appeal to places like WI and MI. She IS a liberal gun owner, which really is a position we need more of, to win.

She also failed in the primary because of how moderate she is. Republicans tend not to finish that sentence when they say it. “She failed in her primary…(because she leans too far into Republican).”

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You should report that to election officials and the FCC.

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And where would we do that?

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 months ago

I don't know, but a quick search for "report election fraud" turned up some stuff, including this page: https://oig.eac.gov/fraud-reporting

FCC too because it's over telecom and that's who regulates that. https://www.fcc.gov/general/frauds-scams-and-alerts-guides

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

I expect they'll investigate it in 6-12 months, assuming Trump loses

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

I fucking WISH those policy positions were real. Alas, there's obvious lies such as

She’s committed to banning fracking

where in the dark timeline we actually live in, one of her most consequential acts as VP was to be the tie breaking vote AGAINST doing exactly that 😮‍💨

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 4 points 2 months ago

I hope that every Republican angry that a Democrat might do something good steps on a LEGO tonight.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 44 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I feel like something like this from the same organization should be illegal.

You can't advertise contradicting views from the same PAC, because one of them MUST be lying.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 14 points 2 months ago

I'm sure the FEC will jump right on that.

[–] desktop_user@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago

couldn't a PAC exist to promote the chaos party, for which the goal is to spread chaos and disinform the populace?

[–] dance_ninja@lemmy.world 39 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Been getting flyers in the mail from them recently here in Michigan. The language really stressed how pro-Israel she was that it didn't sound like a legit pro-Harris ad.

They also purchased space on an electric billboard on M-14.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump ain’t gonna do shit for Palestinians. There won’t be a Gaza Strip if Trump is elected. He’ll let Israel take over in exchange for the rights to build Trump tower in Khan Yunis. Hell, in exchange for renaming Khan Yunis to Trump Yunis.

[–] aamram@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Pretty sure this will happen with Kamala as well, but at least they won't be so straightforward.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I think you’re quite wrong. More “both sides” bullshit. You have a much better chance of having a better outcome with Kamala. Trump 100% does not care about Palestinians. Kamala will at least give some effort to negotiate.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Kamala will at least give some effort to negotiate.

I won't say she won't, but we really can't tell. So far she hasn't said anything that implies she'll do anything different from Biden.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world -3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Biden is privately pressuring Netanyahu to knock it off.

I mean, what is your plan? Vote for Trump instead?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not American so to an extent I'm all mouth here, but Biden's private "pressure" is equivalent to not doing anything, because he's not pressuring Netanyahu; he's asking nicely.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (3 children)

If he does too much out loud, the AIPAC lobby will back Trump even more forcefully and Jews backing the democrats may feel less motivated to turn out. Netanyahu already wants Trump to win. Democrats are trying to thread a needle. And, frankly, they need to. There is more than one issue in this campaign. Should we let America fall to a literal fascist, see abortion banned nationwide, or lose another seat on the Supreme Court for 20 years because Biden and Kamala didn’t throw a loud enough fit over Israel?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Democrats, and American Jews, overwhelmingly oppose Israeli support. It's a winning policy with the public that they refuse to take. That aside, they're now losing progressives and Muslims because they're not threading the needle; they're being Israel's lapdogs. Nothing about what Biden is doing is getting Harris election wins.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Would like to see the polling data on that.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I was gonna go look for the data but the other guy beat me to it so just see that.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Biden is a Zionist, it's ideological for him. It's one of his most unpopular positions. Breaking from Biden would be a major gain in voter turnout for Harris. AIPAC can't influence much when the election is less than a month away.

Throw a fit? This is about America's unconditional military support for an ongoing genocide. It's our weapons being used to eradicate an entire people right in front of our eyes. That's what our tax dollars are paying for right now. Nearly 20 billion dollars. Imagine if that went to improving the lives of American citizens instead of the daily bombing of starving children

Quote

Our first matchup tested a Democrat and a Republican who “both agree with Israel’s current approach to the conflict in Gaza”. In this case, the generic candidates tied 44–44. The second matchup saw the same Republican facing a Democrat supporting “an immediate ceasefire and a halt of military aid and arms sales to Israel”. Interestingly, the Democrat led 49–43, with Independents and 2020 non-voters driving the bulk of this shift.

Quotes

In Pennsylvania, 34% of respondents said they would be more likely to vote for the Democratic nominee if the nominee vowed to withhold weapons to Israel, compared to 7% who said they would be less likely. The rest said it would make no difference. In Arizona, 35% said they’d be more likely, while 5% would be less likely. And in Georgia, 39% said they’d be more likely, also compared to 5% who would be less likely.

Quotes

Majorities of Democrats (67%) and Independents (55%) believe the US should either end support for Israel’s war effort or make that support conditional on a ceasefire. Only 8% of Democrats but 42% of Republicans think the US must support Israel unconditionally.

Republicans and Independents most often point to immigration as one of Biden’s top foreign policy failures. Democrats most often select the US response to the war in Gaza.

America fall to a literal fascist

After what it has been doing in Africa, Asia and South America it would just be karma.

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just as much effort as Biden which would be next to nothing other than strong words in press to save faces and billions of dollars worth of weapons.

At least Trump will not be a hypocrite.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you think Trump isn't a hypocrite you are delusional.

And weird.

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

He is a bigot, he is a obvious sell out to the highest bidder.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 1 points 2 months ago

With Harris it is an open question, with Trump it's a done deal. There is also the difference in how they will treat Palestinian protestors.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Standing with Israel means putting up with things like the Lavon Affair (they planned to blow up US assets), The USS Liberty incident (they killed US Navy personnel in international waters), The Apollo affair (they stole US Uranium), and the US child sex trafficking done by Epstein and Ghislain (her father was Robert Maxwell - a mossad guy).

...as well as genocide done in the name of the big five members of the military industrial complex, Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon, General Dynamics, and Northropp Grumman.

[–] Jollyllama@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Reverse citizens united and abolish all PACs.

Both can't be true, so it's obvious that this PAC is a liar.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think that other countries affairs shouldn’t be this big of a deal in your elections…

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

Other countries' affairs should be a bigger deal in our elections. If the US is going to play world police, then it ought to represent the people it's policing. Since those people can't vote, US citizens have a responsibility to learn and understand things from a global perspective and to place their interests on equal level to that of our own. If the US wasn't so intimately involved in other countries' affairs, you might have a point, but as it stands, prioritizing one's own concerns over the people who are being killed and oppressed in our names is unethical and undemocratic.

Also, with just the money we've sent to Israel, we could end homelessness. Also, many of our police travel to Israel to be trained in their methods. The violence there also creates refugees which affects immigration. There are lots of domestic issues that are affected by foreign affairs.
