“My father is running out of lives here,” son Eric Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “How many more rifles are going to come within assassination distance of my father?”

THEY'RE BLAMING THE GUNS! 😂

[–] vegeta@lemmy.world 44 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

running out of lives? What is he, a cat? Better watch out for JD, Ohians with brown immigrants in the family are known to eat cats. /s

[–] ThePantser@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Let's hope they run with the guns R bad story

[–] meeeeetch@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

They'll gladly disarm people. Just not their supporters.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

He’ll be fine, he’s out golfing, not confined in a small room of 20-30 people that’s cluttered and only has one door.

Shooter was a secret service agent firing at someone they thought had a gun. Suspect was arrested, no word yet if they ACTUALLY had a gun or not.

(I know, I know, NYP, but after going through 5 articles, this one seems to have the most detail.)

https://nypost.com/2024/09/15/us-news/shooting-reported-at-donald-trumps-golf-club-while-ex-president-was-on-grounds/

"Initial reports suggested two people were firing at each other. However, sources said investigators now believe the Secret Service agent was the only shooter."

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

no word yet if they ACTUALLY had a gun or not.

CNN via (HBO)Max reporting that they found an AK-47 in the bushes:

Law enforcement officials found a weapon and other items left behind by the suspect where he was positioned in the bushes near the Trump International Golf Club in South Florida on Sunday.

“In the bushes, where this guy was, is an AK-47 style rifle with a scope; two backpacks, which were hung on the fence and had ceramic tile in them; and a GoPro. … So, those are being processed right now,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Tile? I’m trying to see what he was doing with two bags worth when he was out for blood.

This violence has no place in our election process, and I hope against hope that it can end.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ceramic tiles are used in bulletproof vests.

So he had two backpacks hanging on the fence behind him as a bulletstop.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh oh oh

Shows what the shit I know.

Tight schedule, had to finish tiling the bathroom shower before the 6 o'clock news.

Everything they say is to distract from the fact that they have no policies that improve the lives of the vast majority of their constituents.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They have concepts of policies...

[–] vanontom@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

A decade after stating they're working on a plan, years after saying it would be unveiled "in two weeks". What a disappointment, that we're forced to take these obvious pathological liars seriously again.

[–] bostonbananarama@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If guns are good, and more guns mean more safety, why are they shooting at someone just because they have a gun?

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago

Guns are only good when I have a gun. When you have a gun, then I'm terrified for my life and have to stand my ground. Especially if I'm "defending" property that may or may not be mine.

A Secret Service agent was one hole ahead of Trump while he was golfing and spotted a rifle barrel sticking out of a fence in the golf club, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw of Palm Beach County said at a news conference. The agent “immediately engaged” with the person holding the rifle, who fled. Bradshaw confirmed that law enforcement officials had a potential suspect in custody.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ngl I wish someone had taught the guy proper fieldcraft. You don’t expose your barrel from a hide.

The picture i saw of the "hide" was a chain link fence, you could probably see all of him through the fence, he probably put the barrel through the fence to make sure he didn't hit it.

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

As soon as this happened, his team immediately started requesting donations. Sorry, folks, I call bullshit. There was no actual danger here, just exploiting his cult

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago

Shooter (if he ever actually got a shot off) is an American who has tried to recruit other to fight in Ukraine against Russia. Curiously, he is also a former Trump voter.

His X account, which has now been suspended, included a number of posts about Trump. "@realDonaldTrump While you were my choice in 2106, I and the world hoped that president Trump would be different and better than the candidate, but we all were greatly disappointment and it seems you are getting worse and devolving," he wrote in one post in June 2020. "I will be glad when you gone."

Guns arent the problem!!! /s Let’s make it all about him. Asshole.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 17 points 2 months ago

Personally, I find the police shootings of pets far more shocking.

[–] MCasq_qsaCJ_234@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 months ago

It was the work of Haitians and democrats /s

Just saw this story on CNN via (HBO)Max, and they were reporting that they found an AK-47 in the bushes:

Umm ...

"Secret Service officials said Donald Trump was between “3 and 500 yards” away from the suspect.

“But with a rifle and the scope like that, that’s not a long distance,” officials said."

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2024/sep/15/donald-trump-shooting-florida-golf-course

I think I could probably take him out from 3 yards away.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

They mean 300.

[–] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

With an AK style weapon, even with a scope that would be a difficult shot to make

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

With a scope an AK style gun is effectively maxed out at 300m. After that their accuracy is too low to reliably hit the target. They are designed to put out a spray of bullets at closer ranges. In WWII most combat occured at ranges under 200m so they are effective for what they were designed for.

Very good for combat, not so good for sniping.

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I would die laughing if the shooter turned out to be a Swiftie.

[–] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago

Highly doubt that. Most likely another deranged lunatic who thinks trump isn't extreme enough

I guess it was too soon for me to put my cope ear bandage back on

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Just watch him claim how 'in danger' he was...

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

The guy with the rifle was just there for a peaceful sight-seeing tour. Now he's a political prisoner because he exercised his second amendment rights. Anyone arrested for this is a hostage and a patriot and should be pardoned. Free the September 16th patriot!
