I think my favorite part is how calm forklift driver remains even at 45°

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 43 points 2 months ago

If the load is out of control, the safest place to be is in the cab.

When I was trained on a forklift the direction was to stay inside the cab and keep all extremities inside too when everything goes sideways.

[–] xpinchx@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

I've had some sketchy shit happen before, I like the tuck and pray. Cover your head and neck and try to keep your arms and legs inside.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

This knowledge probably costs an arm and a leg.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago

No point in panic if you can't do anything about the situation.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 8 points 2 months ago

This is a situation where shock is actually a helpful response

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 39 points 2 months ago

Taking the "one trip from the car to inside" mentality quite a bit too far.

Is the camera man an NPC? I’m not gonna just stand two feet away as soon as hundreds of tons of steel starts shifting weight…

[–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It was fairly obvious in which direction they're going to fall.

[–] Thteven@lemmy.world 44 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You think that until some piece of metal that was under tension springs out and flies into your face.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You ever see that one scene from Ghost Ship?

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is that the one where a cable snapped and everyone on the deck was cut in half? I don’t know what but I remember finding that extremely funny and laughing when it happened. Got some mean looks in the theater

Oh thank fuck I wasn't the only one. The faces and cgi blending in the scene were just hilarious.

Was it as good as the German forklift safety video?

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Oh, Staplerfahrer Klaus! Link for anyone who needs context, the beginning seems normal but things really derail after a while so keep watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJdCJMyBi5I

Well said; exactly my thoughts

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Forklifts were doing better than I thought, until it tipped over.

Can I go home now?

[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 months ago

Tandem fork-lifting should be an Olympic sport.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"FUCK!"

Was that an "ah fuck" or an "oh fuck?" 🤔

[–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

Ah, the many sounds of dispair.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

50 ton loading capacity × 3 + 100 ton steel = a 400 ton problem

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 16 points 2 months ago

Hey, that disaster you ordered arrived!

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Someone didn’t do their statics homework

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 13 points 2 months ago

That was one of the heartier "FUCK"s I've heard in awhile

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I would have lifted up, then pulled the train out, then lowered and pulled manageable quantities.

[–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Actually, everything should be done by crane, but I guess management told them to use the forklifts cuz getting and assembling one on site costs a lot.

[–] dessimbelackis@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Does a crane cost more or less than this fuck up?

[–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

No, but tell that to Bob from management, who is not an engineer.

I've been in situations like that. You just don't do it. Also, explain why in written form and have that stamped and submitted.

[–] Githyanki@lemmings.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'm going to say less. They can do it by hand now!

[–] Good_morning@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 months ago

Also, at the very least, should've had forklifts on opposite sides
