I mean I like Nichijou a lot, but why just those two specifically?

Dragon Ball Z - An evil emperor is overthrown and independence restored

Frieza, at least until he comes back.

I guess the Frieza arc could be framed like that but, I don't think they ever explicitly actually say Frieza's empire is completely shattered and independence to the entire universe was restored. It continued to exist in some capacity because he was resurrected and obviously had underlings to rule in his place. At the very least, it wasn't Goku's goal to do any of that. He just wanted to fight Frieza because he was the strongest being in the universe, with defending Earth and reviving his bros being secondary objectives.

Oh yea for sure, I just think that's what the OP meant. Goku doesn't really care about galactic liberation or defeating evil unless it personally affects him (or earth sometimes) lol

Lies, Goku only cares about karate and protecting his friends

i'll be honest i don't think any of these series is particularly left or right wing. i think many of them emphasize traditional family values, but also a certain kind of individualist iconoclasm that appeals especially to teenage viewers, and i say that as someone who likes many of them.

Gurren Lagann is literally about the population of the planet having a worker's revolution for the good of all and then realising that their revolution didn't actually fully overthrow the oppressing class so they have a second revolution to fully achieve it. The revolution they have flings them out of poverty and into rapid prosperity in very little time because the resources are being used for everyone.

and i think it's a bit silly to treat media for children like political theory. unserious is the word en vogue i think.
