Depending on the topography of the land, it could in some areas. But its gotta destroy all the existing beachfront properties first, and the new ones aren't going to last very long either.

Usually when people think of ocean front property they don't think of the ocean being full of debris from the flooded formerly occupied land.

oceans are very wet, from the standpoint of water, they are some of the wettest areas on the planet actually

this seems on brand for Trump.

  • he doesn’t care that a lot of people will lose everything
  • there’s money to be made selling new beachfront property (who cares if it’s uninsurable or short lived)

He likely hasn’t thought much about it, but heard some talking head on Fox say something stupid and repeating it.

Just the other day we were joking that Trump may not understand the difference between an insane asylum and political asylum, which would go a long way towards explaining why he keep asserting that we're exclusively getting migrants from mental institutions. This ocean thing seems pretty similar and on brand for him.
