Image is of a colectivo: an armed group, usually operating in impoverished areas, which act to support and defend the socialist government of Venezuela. They are often derided as vigilante terrorist groups which prop up the government, because cops are only bad when they are socialist and not murdering minorities, I suppose.

Maduro's party, the PSUV, has won the election after a staggering amount of propaganda by the opposition, who said their polls suggested they were going to win and that Maduro's loss was inevitable. The reaction across Latin America is what one would expect. Left-leaning leaders are generally respecting the results and congratulating Maduro, while those on the right and/or are US puppets (such as in semirecently-couped Peru) are calling for recounts, or even that the election was illegitimate. The US itself is also unhappy about the results. We shall soon see if their unhappiness boils over into yet another coup attempt.

Personally, I think they should have ran Guaido again.

guaido-despair guaido

Thank you to @Redcuban1959@hexbear.net for the election coverage here, and everything else they do in the news megathread.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

Not able to find any violence reported in Machester today where trans pride was happening. Fash failed to muster more than antifascist counter demonstrators.

It's take a few days to get organised but antifascist action looks like it's going to make this fizzle out now.

Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro has ordered diplomats at the Chilean embassy in Venezuela to leave the country. This movement should cause a breakdown in relations between the two countries.

Brazil, like Mexico, rejects OAS note against Venezuela.

Brazil has been saying behind the scenes that the ideal is for the OAS not to take a position in any way, as it would be counterproductive for it to do so. Brazilian diplomats believe that the body has lost its ability to deal with issues relating to Venezuela because it is considered by Brazilian sources to be biased and close to the United States, which has a critical view of Venezuela.

Diplomats report that the OAS, for example, accepted Venezuela's entry into the body after the country's self-declared president Juan Guaidó, an opponent of Maduro, expressed interest in joining the collegiate body. After the crisis with Guaidó, the country never rejoined the OAS, which limits, according to Itamaraty sources, the possibility of the country taking a position on itself. For this reason, there is a perception that any manifestation by the OAS could be used politically by Maduro himself, given the organization's history against the regime

Other countries, such as Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, which initially supported the note, considered it a bad move behind the scenes. Since the OAS is considered to be very biased against Venezuela.

All Latin American countries need to exit the OAS asap

Uh, so the Venezuelan opposition released their "results" which is Gonzalez 69.46% x Maduro 30.54%. But what about the other candidates? The CNE results show that the other candidates accounted for 4.6% of the votes.

The opposition site doesn't work, always giving me a connection error. A bunch of people saying the site doesn't work. Wikipedia source is literally an El País article that doesn't mention the opposition results.

Update 1: It seems the website doesn't show the results, but to see if your vote was counted...

Update 2: None of the links they provided work or show the results. Really great job, congrats to the CIA for being this lazy.

Update 3: All of the websites ask for a Venezuelan id. Probably stealing people's ID to use in scams. The people who posted prints of what shows after they insert the ID is the place they voted... I know Maduro said letting these people free is better than arresting them because they are dumb. But they are really fucking dumb.

Update 4: The website doesn't work, Machado and Gonzalez probably went to sleep inside the Argentine Embassy. My guess is that they fucked up the made up results didn't have anything ready beside "MUH GONZALEZ WON WITH 99% with 99 BRAZILLIONS VOTES FROM VUVUZELANS". This is like when Bolsonaro in 2022 presented ULTIMATE proof that there was electoral fraud. And his proof was that his didn't use all his time on the radio. Then the Supreme Court told him to go fuck himself and gave him a 22 million reais penalty to pay.

Update 5: Now Machado gave up on the whole Website idea, and sent out a whatsapp message to her supporters saying they won now with 81%. Can't wait to see soon that they won with 100% of the votes.

The president of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, wrote in his user account on the X social network:

Today, dear Iran is mourning its partner in sorrow and joy, the eternal and proud companion of the path of resistance, the brave leader of the Palestinian resistance, the martyr of al-Quds, Haj Ismail Haniyeh. Yesterday I raised his victorious hand and today I have to bury him on my shoulders.

Martyrdom is the art of men of God. The bond between the two proud nations of Iran and Palestine will be stronger than before, and the path of resistance and defense of the oppressed will be followed stronger than ever. The Islamic Republic of Iran will defend its territorial integrity, honor and respect, and make the terrorist invaders regret their cowardly action.

"Indeed, Allah is the Most Merciful and Vengeful"

Korea Herald: Covert agent identity leaks trigger alarm over S. Korea's intelligence operations

An ongoing investigation into the leak of military secrets, including personal details of South Korean covert agents abroad, has raised serious concerns about the potential impact on the human intelligence operations critical for gathering information on North Korea.

South Korea's Defense Ministry confirmed Tuesday that its central military court issued an arrest warrant for a civilian military employee of the Korean Defense Intelligence Command "on charges including leaking military secrets" in a statement.

The official has been accused of leaking sensitive information of the intelligence command, including the names, locations and other personal details of South Korean covert agents, including those who engaged in human intelligence operations abroad, to a Chinese citizen of Korean ethnicity.

US Deputy Ambassador to the UN, Lloyd Austin, some UK Labour party person (don't remember who) all unanimously and vociferously talking about how Iran and Hezbollah must be condemned and must not retaliated right now. And emphasizing the obviously Israeli attack on those Druze children. I think they are expecting Iran will retaliate hard and expecting to use that to escalate.

I am starting to change my mind that the US actually DOES want this to escalate. Biden is out to lunch, Blinken now is in full control of US policy now, and I think he is ready to go.

A coup attempt is underway in Venezuela as protests from right-wing groups break out seeking to paralyze the cities and overturn the Presidential elections results.

A few hours earlier the electoral court formally declared Nicolás Maduro as the winner, shortly after groups descended on the capital attempting to reach the presidential palace but we're forced back by security forces. Some groups have reached the international airport of the capital but no signs of a breach thus far.

Opposition supporters are also circulating videos from protests in 2017 and 2019 in an attempt to exaggerate the size of the current mobilizations. While the US State Department and right-wing governments in the region have questioned the results, international observer reports are yet to publish their findings, with no significant irregularities reported on the day of the vote.

Venezuela’s right-wing opposition and US media outlets claim there was fraud in the July 28 election based on an exit poll done by US government-linked firm Edison Research, which works with CIA-linked US state propaganda organs and was active in Ukraine, Georgia, and Iraq.

The municipal government of Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city, has decided to suspend a social educator named Simon el-Zinaib as a result of an Arab-language Facebook post in which he expressed sorrow over the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh who was murdered by a zionist terror attack in Iran.

In the post el-Zinaib referred to Haniyeh as a "great leader" and expressed the wish for Allah to accept him among the martyrs. The post has since been removed by the US-government affiliated platform, citing alleged violations of guidelines.

Public uproar has already pressured el-Zinaib to resign from the national integration council where he has been advising the regime on integration of ethnic minorities. Kaare Dybvad, the virulently anti-immigrant head of the nation's succdem-controlled ministry for foreigners and integration appointed el-Zinaib but has now made statements about how he condemns the statements and how "prising the leader of a terrorist organisation" is irreconcilable with serving on the integration council.

In Aarhus Anders Winneskjold, head of the city's succdem-controlled social affairs and employment department, is equally brash, claiming that such statements are "incompatible" with working for the city. He refuses to make further comments, referring to the now-initiated legal process to fire el-Zinaib.

Prior to being thrown out, el-Zinaib was working in a poor immigrant neighbourhood of Aarhus doing crime prevention.

Abdul Malik Al Houthi speaking at 16:00 Jerusalem time, so 4 hours left until the speech. He needs to be quick, because Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah is speaking one hour later, at 17:00 Jerusalem time.

Remember the official news mega rule when it comes to speeches, nothing will happen because no "underdog" will ever announce a war on live TV without the surprise factor. Well of course except Ukraine who made a commercial for their counter offensive. I recommend listening to the Nasrallah speech, fantastic speaker and he shines in these situations.

Mexican President (Still AMLO) condemns OAS's interfering attitude in Venezuela - TelesurSpanish (Translated)

Article

López Obrador asserted that it is necessary for all countries to respect Venezuela's autonomy.

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, condemned this Tuesday during his morning conference at the National Palace the interfering attitude of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Venezuela's internal affairs.

López Obrador affirmed “the OAS has to get involved. That is interference, that is why the OAS has no credibility”. The Mexican president asked: “On what grounds does the OAS maintain that the other candidate won? Where is the evidence?

Likewise, he urged to respect the self-determination of the peoples, to avoid violent demonstrations and to stop political incitement.

In this sense, he referred to international actors, internationalist experts and advisors, and stressed that each country is free, independent and sovereign.

The Head of State criticized the hypocrisy of former Presidents Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón, who opposed the recount of votes in Mexico and are now “international observers”.

All Latin American nations should leave the OAS and strengthen CELAC.

Amal Saad:

How might Hizbullah and the Resistance Axis respond to Israel's new targeted shock and awe campaign, or what Nasrallah has called the "new phase" of the war?

An analysis of the possible retaliation will be shaped in large part by what the Axis believes Israel's aims are, and the extent of US support for these aims. In other words, whether Israel is simply trying to intimidate and coerce its enemies into submission with these very provocative assassinations, or if its trying to bait Hizbullah and Iran into a wider regional war with the aim of forcing the US to step in militarily. Given that their previous deterrence strategies are no longer effective, both Iran and Hizbullah have to go beyond their responses to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria and the assassination of al-Arouri, respectively. This entails an abandonment of their signature "sub-threshold" response, and the adoption of a vertical escalation strategy that crosses Israel's red lines forcefully, compelling it to redraw those lines and absorb the counter-strike(s), without triggering an all-out war.

Anything less than this will only embolden Israel to escalate horizontally by striking Dahyeh and Tehran regularly. This could potentially be achieved if the response doesn't target heavily populated areas and civilians (not to be confused with civilian objects), which Hizbullah has been keen to avoid since the start of the war, despite its public rhetoric. For Hizbullah, the real challenge will engaging in such a response while avoiding giving away any new weapons technology, and the location of its missiles and launching positions, among other things, which Israeli intelligence is keen to observe and gather information about. The central aim of any response will not only be to restore deterrence and honour as per Nasrallah's speech, and to prevent all out war, but to ensure that Israel is unable to compensate for its lack of strategic victory with tactical gains.
