Most city parks previously had a policy easily visible and posted indicated that 3.2 beer was the only allowed alcoholic beverage. I have recently found signs at Jefferson Park and the pirate ship park at Sloans lake indicating that hard alcohol, glass bottles and kegs are prohibited, but the language seems to specifically leave beer and wine (without glass) off the prohibition.

Does anyone have a reference for the generic city wide policy? There is no sign at my local park, and I want to know what the default setup is.

This changed a while back. I think you basically have the gist of it - no hard alcohol, no glass.

I did a bad job on my DuckDuckGo'ing initially. After a second try and better keywords I found this document: https://www.denvergov.org/content/dam/denvergov/Portals/747/documents/policy/DPR-Alcohol-Policy.pdf

The most useful text is found in Section 2, and I am highlighting it here for convenience.

Possession, consumption, sale or service must be in compliance with State Law including, but not limited to, no consumption by persons under the age of 21 and as otherwise prohibited. In addition to the above restrictions, the following restrictions apply unless authorized by a Concession License, a Contract, or a duly issued Permit:

  1. Kegs and glass containers are prohibited.
  2. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed in parkways.
  3. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed within the boundary of any pool.
  4. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed within the boundary of any playground.
  5. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed within twenty-five (25) feet of any entrance to a recreation or senior center.
  6. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed within the boundary of any skate park.
  7. Alcohol Beverages may not be possessed or consumed within the boundary of any bike park.
