Stupid question, but what's the difference between kbin and lemmy? I thought kbin was a lemmy instance.

Kbin is a different software.

But kbin is compatible with Lemmy, as it's also federated via ActivtyPub. Kbin also supports microblogging and can see content in Mastodon.

It also includes microblogging so it's like a mix of lemmy and mastadon (and federates with both)
