Agree completely except for the vast underselling of BG3. It's one of the best games in years IMO and as far as I can tell, Larian is up to few or none of the usual money vampire tricks that have disgustingly become standard practice of the industry! ✊️❤️

Probably won't be for a long time with BG3, then, but at least the already thriving mod scene will have become even MORE comprehensive by then! 😁

I did get BG1&2 for six dollars total on GOG, so I’ll be trying those out in the meantime. When I really got into the genre was Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny.

Keep your eyes out for Planescape: Torment, regarded as the all time best CRPG, if you like the early BG games.

This was the game that popped my cherry. My very first game, links awakening was my second. Up to this date I still love Zelda but haven't tried the spiritual successor to planescape "tides of numenara".

I couldn't get into inXiles title but Obsidians Pillars of Eternity was up there.
