Edge and chatgpt are not Microsoft product, they are Google and openai. Vs code as well is 80% a Google product. The only part of github that are responsibility of MS is co-pilot, which is the shadiest of the whole thing.

Are we sure this guy really appreciate MS?

What are you talking about? Vscode isn't a google product just because it's an electron app that uses chromium. Github is owned by MS so everything they do is by definition the responsibility of MS.

Github was bought as is, Microsoft contribution since take over is minimal. Vs code is a complex web app on top of chromium, that is the bulk of what delivered in vscode package, and which is made by Google.

Just this, Microsoft is cleaning its reputation mainly using other people work, and vs code...

Im not sure I agree with that statement.

It's like saying using a computer means that any program on it belongs to the makers of the operating system because you need that to run it. Or every Java program was made by oracle because you need the JVM to run it.

VS Code is its own software (and service nowadays), and yes it builds on chromium in part. But doesn't make the idea, the actual application, i. e. what's on top of chromium or other associated service owned by someone else.

I do agree that many software devs and companies rely on Chromium and thus Google, often too much, and I don't think that's a good idea But they definitely retain ownership of the code and associated functionality on top.

I was just making an hyperbole for the guy praising Microsoft against google while praising tools built on Google technologies.

Like shitting on java while praising eclipse
