There was a surge when Reddit killed 3rd Party Apps, and another when Sync arrived. (EDIT 2: Actually, this latest surge is on July 30-31... A day or two before Sync. It might be botspam.)
One nice thing about Lemmy's growth, compared to Mastodon... The people who came here appear to be sticking around & continuing to comment.
EDIT: One thing to note about total user counts here... They can be misleading. There have been a few instances that were flooded with bot accounts that got purged over the last month or two.
I think itβs a good sign people are sticking around. A lot of people joined mastodon and instantly left because it was too much to figure out how to use. Lemmy is a lot better in its current state than where mastodon was during the first mass migrations.
Totally agree joined Lemmy today and it feels just like Reddit with a few extra steps but oh well. Mastodon is itβs own beast to tackle
