A Nanaimo-based seasonal community co-ordinator for WildSafeBC is anticipated to start mid-June, marking the second summer in a row a community co-ordinator will be stationed in the community.

Tetsuumi Nagata of Nanaimo was selected to be one of 34 members from leading orchestras in the U.K. and Canada to perform in the Coronation Orchestra for the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey.

For his part in the coronation, Nagata received a King Charles III Coronation Medal this spring.

“If you’re living in this area, central Island or north Island, the best time to have a heart attack is actually if you’re visiting Victoria,” he warned. “That’s when you get the standard of care, that’s when you’re going to go to the cath lab. Otherwise you’re like everybody else, you’re going to get inferior treatment.”

In 2021, B.C. became the first province in Canada to create a comprehensive hydrogen strategy. More than 50 per cent of Canada’s hydrogen and fuel-cell companies are in B.C., and the province accounts for approximately 60 per cent of research investment in hydrogen and fuel-cell development, the release noted. There are approximately 50 proposed projects in the hydrogen sector in B.C., ranging range from large-scale production facilities to hydrogen fuelling stations and heavy-duty trucking pilots.
