I'm working with doctors in admin and the Healthcare collapse? It's bad folks.

Doctors on call for ED while doing clinical at the same time.

Entire departments refusing patients in clinics up to 75 miles away. 3 weeks to make an appointment. Not to be seen, to make an appointment.

Shortages in all departments.

The only silver lining is that the there is a lot of solidarity among the people here.

It all burned down. Neighbors are sending pictures of destroyed homes and schools. I only have my phone, laptop, and toothbrush. I don't know what to do. Doubt the fire will be better next year, but no clue where to head to. I'm going to get high

Update: we have family a few towns over that are letting us stay, so we're fortunate there

Will get to the point where I've blocked myself into the void underside of Hexbear, behind the curtain of the universe and can finally just chill.

No one will ever pwn me again. No one will ever ppb me again.

I mashed up two tweets together and I made some edits for clarity.

A mature saguaro takes 125 years to grow. They keep going down around Phoenix. [...] Saguaros open tiny pores on their skin at night to take in CO2. When it's too hot overnight, they can't do it. [...] It's happening all over South Mtn too. Saguaros are native there.

Nitter

Another reply...

There's also potentially some heat stress from underground issues with the construction and lack of shade. You can see that out in east valley or scottsdale- stressed out saguaros on one side and perfectly healthy, normal flowering and fruiting on the other side of the road in undeveloped acreage.

We could use more shade (especially the leguminous trees).

For fucking years both the Repubs and Democrats have been aware of the science behind Climate Change. They know, their donors know, the military industrial complex knows, the information has been out there.

And both parties have had the opportunity to just blast the airwaves with constant propaganda for years priming people to be shitting their pants in fear over the climate, and they haven't.

They could have been dragging the most dewy eyed, trembling elderly farmers in front of cameras every week and have these sad old Classic Americana™ white men sobbing as they talk about how scared they are of crop failures and famines. They could have been showing piles of dead fish and animals against the backdrop of classic American landmarks. They could have done medical featurettes about how wet bulb temperatures would easily kill people (especially cute old grannies and children!) in the south eastern US.

And they could have kept doing this, all the time, week after week, the most dire doom and gloom predictions and warnings, whatever it would possibly take to start warming the chuds up to the need to make infrastructure changes in the US. Until people come to them demanding big structural changes.

And they haven't. They haven't done it. They still aren't doing it.

They're really going to run the clock out on this until they die of old age or they can all go to their defensive bunkers while everyone else dies of famine and war.

They're not even going to try stopping it. They're not even going to try proposing any Big Changes that could make a difference, because they know the majority US population would never agree to it. They're just going to keep promising miracle tech and gun down refugees at the border until they can sneak off stage while no one is looking.

They won't even paint the fucking roofs white, man.

It's amazing. It's such a fantastic system, and they manage it with so little funding comparatively. After seeing how bad it is in America, and also how good it was in the UK at the time the documentary came out, all I could think of was what's to come.

Capitalists want nothing more than the end of Cuba, and it's miraculous socialist healthcare, and the UK is quickly eroding away at the NHS. I seriously may have to consider learning Spanish and getting out of here if this place keeps getting worse and worse.

Seeing the happiness on the faces of these Americans being treated in Cuba for pennies, the gentle way the doctors acted towards these people as humans rather than as meatbags of profit.

I'm not an emotional guy, but it really nearly had me for a second. What a fucking stupid world.
